Somehow, when I was trying to put the starter together, I somehow harnessed all the forces of The Ether and somehow managed to bend my starter spring around BACKWARDS?!:huh::huh::huh:
I tried to salvage it, but I gave up and ordered a new spring.

Yeah, no kidding. It happened when I was trying to thread the new rope in. Because it is so soft and limp I had trouble leading it in with a wire. So I thought that lifting the pulley out a bit would help.
:ack2:
No.
Not under tension!
I'm planning on reusing the old rope since it's stiffer.
