I HAVE OFFICIALLY GIVEN UP!! Urghh i just spent half an hour taking it all apart, cleaning it, leaving it, then cleaning it again. and then i bought the DOT5 put it in and then as i was trying to bleed it, absolutely nothing. So i tried the power bleedng thingy and still nothing. all it did was waste some of my brake fluid and left it all over the ground. All though this time i did get some sputters out of the bleeder but nothing major engough to get the brakes bled.

What do i do?

There is no need to give up, these brake systems are very simplistic. Take it all apart and lay it on the ground and take a picture. Maybe you are missing something, or just something simple.

I doubt that you should be using DOT 5 brake fluid with you cart. DOT 5 is hydrophobic compared to DOT 3 and 4 which is glycol based. In short this means that if you didn't flush the old fluid out thoroughly, DOT 5 can destroy your seals.

Why give up? How will you ever learn to fix things if all you are going to do is replace stuff. What if it isn't your master cylinder?

sometimes it takes a while to get all the air out

guy at motorbike shop told me i could run dot 5 in my bike that said dot 3 on the master cylinder. He said you can run a higher dot but not a lower one than recomended. Have no idea if thats true but yeh he said not to mix them

edit: and i have run motul dot 5 in two bikes one which said dot 3 and the other that said dot 4 with no problems

edit: rustydog i forgot to tell you there is an IT(maybe 250) frame at the waitakere dump that they want 100 bucks for. Had exhaust and stuff while i was there. Maybe good for parts for your bike. Looks pretty complete other than the engine. Has all plastics and wheels etc

Its all good and well to show that, but what did you use? How do you know it was installed correctly? Get some pictures of the whole brake system and its components. Its hard to tell you over the internet but pictures will help.

I dont think this will help, but, I spent almost a week, or
what felt like a week trying to bleed a brake system,
nothing worked, I would bleed it down and the brakes
never worked, no pressure at the brake pads.

Then I read about putting brake fluid in the reverse way,
putting brake fluid in threw the bleed nipple, I used some
clear vinyl hose and a oil squirt can, I also had to use
thread seal tape / Teflon tape on the threads of the bleed
nipple.

What I did was clean the regular oil out of the oil squirt
can, and filled it with brake fluid, then squirted brake fluid
out, to remove any remaining regular oil, I then opened
the master cylinder's reservoir, and used something to
hold the brake lever down, I put that vinyl hose over
bleed nipple, also putting the vinyl hose in a position were
the open end of the vinyl hose is pointing up, and
then open the bleed nipple, that lets oil and any air fill
the vinyl hose and start to over flow, when the vinyl hose
is full of oil, and it has no more air inside of it, stuff the tip
of the oil squirt can into the vinyl hose and try not get
air into the vinyl hose when you do, and then pump, just
keep pumping, that should remove any air stuck in the
brake caliper, just dont run out of oil in the oil squirt
can, or it might start pumping air.

I hope this helps.
