how do i build a shifterkart frame is there any plans?

no company gives out plans its much easyer to buy a used frame. and there really complicated by nature because howmuch design goes into them to handle the forces and what not.

What kinda shifter kart are you thinking? Maybe an off road shifter kart with suspension, a parking lot cruiser or do you want to competitively race on a track against factory built shifter race karts?

parking lot cruser is slaped together no real math involved in making it mostlikly no camber caster or kpi ankerman arm is at what ever and pretty much it moves stops and steers. while race karts are fast and you can race with them.

buy a chassis buy the other crap for it and put it together. making a frame from scratch for a race kart aint really easy.

Instead of buying just a frame, (you'll end up spending mega-bucks buying all the other race components) I'd try to find a deal on a complete chassis with or without engine.

Shifter karts are the top/fastest class, you should seriously consider starting out in one of the other (non-shifter) classes at your track. If its a paved road course, you should start out in a "Sprint kart" class. (these can still go 60/70mph on some tracks)
If your kart track has a web site, it might have some good tech info about the karts/engines used for each class. Their site might also have a classified section with some karts for sale that are already set up and adjusted for that track. You can sometimes pick up 5 to 10 year old, used race karts w/o engine for around $500 that could still be competitive. (one of our forum members here resently bought an older race kart complete with 2 engines for like $200)

Shipping a kart is pretty expensive so hopefully you'll find something within driving distance. If you find anything that looks promising, post the ads link and we'll try to help you out with more info.

ok if you want to get into racing you should look around for a used kart with or without the motor, it doesn't matter because unless its a good motor you'll end up chunking it anyways, then, depending on what you want to get into, youu can buy a clone from harborfreight.com for around 100$ and then spend about 150 on it and have a quality racing engine for a beginner class heck a modded clone is still fast as snot.

They wont let you race with a home built frame.....

If it's well built and safe, they will let you run it at CFRC, but the great majority of the karts I've seen here wouldn't cut the mustard. Most that I've seen look like great fun, but kart racing on asphalt with most of them could get you seriously injured, either because of a crash, equipment failure, or both.

Anybody that wants to come and try to beat Rickracer's kart on the road course better pack their lunch .... and some serious power, performance and driving skill, My kart is a freakin MONSTER, like somebody said on another forum, it's hospital fast, and I'm still learning to drive it,

Wish you were closer, i'd love to take a shot at beating you when I'm done with my kart. What kind of speeds are you hitting with that beast?

I've only had it up to about 80 or so, so far, not enough room or smooth enough road to go much faster, lots more to go though. I haven't had it out on the road course yet, so far, just the 1/8 mile drag strip, and it didn't hook well enough there, went 9.90 skating all over the track, still dialing stuff in though, I'm sure it's got at least some mid 8s in it if I can get enough of that power to the track..
