how to attach the driven on a torque convert to a jackshaft?

i thought sprockets had keyway? the kit i bought has keyed sprockets, and the driven is keyed also, so dont you have to put collars on both sides of them? im sooo confused

most are 5/8" and keyed. to keep it from moving back and forth you need to use whatever your shaft calls for. It can be a c clip or wrist pin. usually its not a bolt unless yours has been homemade. If theres no holes or slots use a lock collar

The key is there to transfer the torque between the shaft and the sprocket. The set screw keeps it from moving around. They almost always have both.

I use shaft collars on my powerwheels setup. Kinda wanting to get the split ones. Perhaps use a dremel to countersink the shaft for the set screws to limit side movement. I have a long 20 inch jackshaft on pillow block bearings.
