hey guys,

newbie to this forum. Just wondering roughly how much 1.5"x1.5" square tube would i need to build your standard 2 seater frame? the reason i ask is there is only a couple places here that sell steel at a reasonable price but it is in 20' lengths. thanks in advance guys.

i figured it would be around 40' or so. you used 1" square tube to build yours? So i guess 1.5" square should be suitable for a 2 seater? really just for me (165 lbs) and my 2 yr old son (28 lbs). he loves going on the riding mower with me so i figured this would be even more fun and he would have a place to sit :) Thanks.

Anyone else?

Are you building a flat frame kart or a buggy?

i will probably start with a flat frame with some side bars. i just want to make something simple for now to get the idea and then branch out from there. I have worked on cars for a few years now but never messed with karts.

I think i will make the frame out of 1.5" square tube and then get all the axles, tires, wheels, egine, etc from northern tools. I will do some more research on this site to see what i have to do to get it right :cheers2:

i would stay away from northern tool for the engine itself, there very expensive and im sure you could find one for very cheap on craigslist.

I agree, theres a reason why its so cheap for wheels and such, dont buy there wheels. If u do, read a thread on here for modding them.

i was gonna get the 6.5hp from harbor freight. and i figured a cheap tire was a cheap tire so i dont think i would cry too much over them. i really want a sturdy frame with a solid ride. what exactly is wrong with the tires? where would you say is a personal favorite for buying parts?
