I recently got a baja heat mini bike, also an 11hp B&S... See where Im goin?
The briggs wont fit strait up, but it will fit at an angle... My question, how far of an angle could it run good at without modification?
Thanks.
I think he biggest issue will be figuring out how much oil to use, cause you probably dont wanna pour in too much.
Once you figure out the exact angle you need the engine mounted: I'd pop the side cover off and note how deep the oil dipper was originally intended to reach down into the oil when the engine was sitting flat and full of oil. (then scratch a mark on the dipper for reference)
Then with the side cover still off, tightly wrap the lower half of the block with Saran wrap, tilt the engine to your desired angle, and then pour oil in to see how much it takes to ensure the oil dipper is reaching in as deep as it was originally intended.
If your side cover is dished-out where it would add to the oil capacity, you could also wrap its lower half in Saran wrap, turn it to the same angle, and pour oil in it to learn how much additional oil to use.
You'll need to find some type of large measuring cup/container with once-labeling and pour your oil into that first, so you'll know for sure how much oil you've poured in during your tests.
Then once you've got the engine all back together with the correct amount of oil and sitting at the angle you need: Find something you could use as a dip stick, stick it in the oil fill hole and then use a hacksaw blade to mark your dipstick with your correct oil level for future reference.
Have you considered how a severe engine angle might affect your carbs float-level?
