How do you secure sprockets to an axle such as this?

Hi, I was wondering how you would secure a sprocket (like this) to a smooth axle (at least, i think that it's completely round and smooth) like this one? Thanks.

make a keyway in the axle would be best
second best would be to put tractor pins through it
third would probably be to weld it on a bit, but not so much you can't take it off

The sprocket bolts to that and then that will lock to the shaft via a key.

That axle has a 1/4" keyway so all you need is a keyed hub that you bolt the sprocket to, then slide onto the axle over the key, and tighten the allen bolts that clamp the key.

So basically, I can assume that any go kart axle I buy has this keyway of 1/4" unless it says otherwise?
Okay. I'm still determining to go with live or fixed (I've never built one before) and I'm actually making it out of wood.
What parts would I have to buy in order to have a fixed v-belt single rear wheel drive? If you could post the parts in links, that'd be spectacular.

Kool. Now I'm wondering a bit about what the dimensions for a tire are.
For example, if a tire says 4.10/3.50-5
what does this mean? Would it be bad if, say, I used a 4.10/3.50-4 on the other side of the kart?

5 inch will be 11 inches
4 inches will be 10 inches

I got the same axle! The 1/4" keyway is full length, I got a one piece sprocket 60t #41 that has no hub it just slides right on, w/ two set screws and a 1/4" keyway!

Okay...umm...what part is shorter? The width? Diameter? Radius?

it's the rim size that makes it shorter , smaller rim= smaller overall O.D. of tire, In this case, with the tire size being 4.10x3.50, what changes width is 4.10x(3.5) this in inches
