I only paint with spray cans, so if you're planning on an automotive quality paint job, you can stop reading now...

First, I've tried any number of brands of paint, and haven't found anything that's easier to use or outperforms Rustoleum.

After all the work on the frame is done, everything is ground down and you're ready to paint, soak a rag in mineral spirits and wipe the entire assembly down. Let it air dry.

Then, hit it with a good coat (or even two) of Rusty Metal Primer. Yes, even if it's not rusty. The RMP gives you a tough base coat with plenty of "tooth" for the color coat to get hold of. Let the primer dry to the touch. IIRC, the can says "Recoat in 10-15 minutes OR wait X hours" meaing recoat while it's still tacky, or wait until it's completely dry.

Then hit it with a couple of coats of whatever finish color you like.

1) clean out all welds with strong wire brush, get all rust and oil/grease out.
2) Add a coat of rust preventive paint.
3 )Wait till fully dry and add another coat or if fully covered no need to add another coat.
4) Wait till FULLY DRY, lay a few coats of what ever colour you want your kart.

(make sure rust preventive paint is fully dry before laying your colour on because some paints may react with the rust preventive paint and that just gets messy)

Hope this helps.

if you wan automotive quality start reading now.

First off you need scotch brite pad automotive primer spot puddy body puddy paint clear coat and sand paper

first you use sand paper and sand the whole frame then you use scotch brite pad if there is any rust pittiing use the spot puddy then the body puddy and sand that smooth after that lay down first coat of primer if theres any spots messed up go ahead sand and re prime. i always lay another coat of primer light passes after you are satified with the primer you can lay the first coat of paint gloss its easy to see imperfections flat makes it hard. after the first coat i do 2 more normaly each coat is really light then i will spray a some what thicker coat on there after that i got 2-3 coats clear coat.
