I got some Snap-On & Craftsman tools from the 80's
...& lots of ??? tools from auctions & garage sales, over the years
...but, MOST EVERYTHING I use daily (like all day long...everyday)
...to make stuff, is from HF

My welder, my variety of grinders,
...& consumables like drill bits, cut-off wheels, sanding discs, grinding wheels etc.
...& even, my new re-patriated 3" C-clamps

They used to be Chinese
...but, they converted
...& NOW they are American

Well, maybe you are expecting too much? There was a time however….
Lately, I do shyt regularly that I would have fired someone for.
My calibrated eyeballs need recalibrating, but "they" say nothing can be done to fix the deficiencies.
Why the hell should I doubt the laser etched ID on the tap? Oh! Wait! it is HF after all.
I really hate buying stuff like this online. I like to see the stuff first.
The HF taps looked good!
At least you’re out in the shop tryin. Beats sitting in front of the boob tube dyin. Anymore I just chalk up my mistakes to shyt happens.

When the guy comes to your workplace with a truck full of top quality tools and I can walk out there and say "I need this" and he puts it on my tab, it's a convenient option. Of course, at $100 a week, every week, most accounts dont pay off until you retire.
Snap-On and MAC would come to my shop every Friday. I had a truck account, not a credit card account. I'd pay $20 a week and sometimes $50 if I had a good week. Lol. I never owed more then a $1000 though. Never dropped the cash on a box though.

Truck accouint for many years, then a Credit account for a big, rolling cabinet. Paid that off when I was 60. I took it all home and quit officially fixing cars.

My Uncle gave me his Snap-On box when I bought my first house. It's just a 7 drawer 32" bottom box. Also got my Craftsmen and Husky box's.

I almost pulled the trigger on a 65" Snap-On bottom box with the wood bench top for $3000 around 2006. Glad I passed. lol.

I did buy a Blue Point 3 drawer rolling cart with the bottom tray and a sliding bench top. It was on clearance for $250. That thing was awesome but regretably sold it a while back.

Theres no question about the quality of Mac and Strap-on, and for the guy that earns a living with em it makes sense. The rest of us weekend warriors not so much.
I have tools (lotsa crapsman) from 60's and 70's that are good as new, proving the points:
They don't make em like that anymore!
and
Ya get watcha pay for.
