So POR15 must be coated with some type of clear coat? Does this clear coat dry as hard as POR15? Does Hardnose need a top coat? How does it cure?

Por15 rust paint must be top coated. You must spray your top coat while the Por15 is still tacky. I never use clear coat just black paint for top coat. The top coat does bond to the por15 as one.

Hardnose does not need topcoat. Hardnose cures the same as POR15 rust paint. Hardnose is a two part paint. Moisture cured as well though.

Yes A starter kit would paint that kart. You can get gloss black, semi gloss black and silver.

You must remember that you need to top coat as well. I just use rattle can rustulm while the por15 is still tacky.

If you can find it local the starter kit is about $20. Then you need a few rattle cans or spray a top coat.

The reason colors are limited is something to do with color pigments. The por15 does not work right with color pigmants. Por15 does have another pruduct called Hardnose paint. It is UV safe and lots of colors.

Err, uh, rattle can? Just regular spray Paint?
Sorry, I aint never heard that before...

Looks pretty decent. What application method are you using? I would want to spray, but the website says not to reduce by more than 5%. This concerns me because if it's a normal "paint" viscosity, I would consider a 5% reduction too thick for a conventional spray gun application.

I just brush it on. I am not a painter but Por15 seems to be on the way thinner side. I know it last much longer than normal paint. Never tried to spray it for brushing works great.

The silver spreads much different that the black. I do not like how the silver coats. I would say do not use the silver. It is not the same as the black for some reason. I needed 3 coats to make it look good. Was pissed until I top coated.

I think I read on the website somewhere that the silver is a "filler", having extra body to it with the purpose of filling up badly pitted metal.

Pics only get us so far, it's hard to tell the finish. You said it self-levels well, yes? I generally prefer to spray things for a better finish, but this stuff is expensive enough that I'm not sure I'd be happy with the inherent losses of spraying.

I saw the chrome colour stuff on the website too- looks awesome! Have you checked that out?

Toystory I have not tried the chrome yet. I will check it out. The silver is not at all the same I can say that for sure.

Well this weekend I got all the paint and cleaning done. Starting to put her back now. I am happy with the por15 paint job. Should never rust again. The drivin clutch on the Ody's is an Salsbury 700. Spent a few hours cleaning and rebuilding the drivin and the reduction box.

Here are some pics.

And some more. My Father in law polished the Ody wheel with a drill. Turn out really nice. The Ody has mechanical disc brake, But it is very large and locks the rig up with ease. They are also auto adjust as well. Nice brake unit. The Ody also has the E-brake or Parking brake for back up.

Here some more pics.

Even though you don't like how the silver goes on, it looks D*** good! I'm surprised to hear that the Ody's use mechanical brakes. I just assumed that they would have put hydraulic on these things being as big, fast, and heavy as they are.

I could be wrong but I think having the rotor on the reduction box adds more force to the braking.

yup that's correct it multiplies the braking force by the gear ratio

Yes thats what I was thinking. The reduction box is 10 to 1. And with a little hand brake lever it stops great and locks up easy. Even with a light two finger pull. The ody caliper has a very nice ratcheting auto adjuster.
