Honda lawsuits = New Clone Design

Well... I just read some more information yesterday.

Now the angle of the block is at 27 degrees, more cooling fins, and it has a larger bore.

So..... they might. Internals? That's another story.

I don't understand why they can't come up with their own killer design and sell it at a low price.

The Chinese have low or no incentive to build their own stuff.
Much easier to copy stuff which is something they excel at.

The company I work for came up with the chip for musical greeting cards and guess what...China copied it and we lost all that business.

well bigger bore usually equals more torque and more fins means cooler running temp, not much but its better.

Well that's too bad. I can't splurge for the current clone now and store it away. Thing is, I never really intended to spend much more then the initial $99 investment on the motor so what does it matter ? Only thing that was nice was that all the Honda parts would fit.

I just wonder what the deal with replacement parts will be ? I have a hard time believing these companies will produce a full line of parts and have dealers carry them. Is this new one a rip off of someone elses motor instead of honda ?

No, this is their "own" design. Honda even approved of it.

That thing is fugly! I guess I'm glad I bought some to play with and mod when I did....but I guess that could also mean that the HF in Camarillo will probably sell whatever clones they have left for dirt cheap next time the parking lot sale comes around!!!

But kibble if you plan on mod'ing those engines it will be hard to find the mod's for it because now AGK NR and a few other racing supplies shops have to change sizes for these new measurements on the clones like heads and piston sizes.

I don't plan on modding the "new" engines, but the old HF clones. I don't plan on buying those new ones at all. They look really ugly.


The Honda mods should still work on the old clones, right?

I can just imagine: "I'm getting a billet rod and flywheel to mod my Cheese-e."

That is still undetermined. The carburetor, air filter, and exhaust modifications still looks like they might work. Cam, rod, flat top piston, 14/18cc heads, ect. might be different because of the new angle, bore size, ect..

Cheese-E Terror powered Ride of Death!

On a different note, they (The Overseas Manufacturing Giants) should purchase the rights to a successful but discontinued design from the past.... Be it an old Clinton design... or whatever. At the risk of ridicule, I submit this rip-off of an engine I saw back in power-mechanics class... It was a flathead that was potentially a "Hypo" version of a B/S. It was small- no larger than 8ci, and if I remember right (?) it was cast iron. In the drawing, I threw in a couple of proposed improvements (Exhaust valve closest to cool air/ flywheel type crank throws/ better oil slinger) Russ- have you seen this one before in yoiur travels?? Sorry about the crappy drawing.... I figure if I saw this design somewhere, someone else surely has.
