Thats just nuts, an easy +200kmh in the straights......

However this is not a clone engine, it has a transmission, 2 stroke 250cc water cooled, hydraulic clutch....

basically all but what were talking here....

:iagree::lolgoku: This guy is just being hard headed..... He KNOWS what he's talking about, and isn't gonna listen. Just like the oil cooler thread. Let him do it his way and "help" him along the way. When it all fails and he eats his pride, he will be humble and actually listen to the advice given next time. Let him throw all his money at it just to figure out it wont work,he wont be happy with performance, and he needs a bike/quad motor to go that fast...

OP; I have a honda NSR500 engine, I'm going to put it in my gokart, and my target top speed is 170-200MPH. should I use just pressure treated ply wood? Or marine grade plywood for my engine mounting brackets? Also I got 2 wheel barrel tires, and a set of HF tires, with some bearings I got a homedepot. what size sprocket would I need?

I shall call it, my Pallet Gokart!

Maybe so... But what's the question?

I think it's in here somewhere.....

I just don't think this dude understands the differance between a clone and a sports bike

He's read the wiki artical on engines and internal combustion
And as far as he can see a clone and a sports bike work just the same
Just forgetting the small details that make the differance

I honestly don't care if u build this and I will help where I can
But some of the questions can't be answered

Lets face it if it does work it'll be great to see
If it doesn't then hopefully it ends up on YouTube and we al get a good laugh

Just hope he doesn't end up dead

i undestand that a sport bike has more gear that a clone i understand all that, but ive also seen clones that goes up to 60-100mph at tracks and i also seen people use tranmisson coolers and had there clones drop in heat by ike 2-6 degees...but im going to be nice and go a whole diffenet way with this that you guys might feel better aboput and be able to help me on.

I think the point here is that the guy wants to build or modify things himself, he just doesn't want to put pieces together like a puzzle.
My advice and I think many will agree with this option (that is actually which everyone gave).
Sell the engine you have, look for a small motorcycle engine (preferably a Japanese one) so you have to do modifications to achieve the mph you want. The challenge would still be the same, but more reasonable and I think it's more remarkable modifying a motorcycle engine one than an honda clone due its complexity.

My native language is Spanish so if there are any horrible mistake correct me to improve my English.

Most of my experience is with flat head engines, so some others may be able to advise you better in some areas there. i will tell you this, high compression ratios can lead to pre ignition, detonation, which will rip your engine to pieces. Is this to run on gas or methanol?
What we need here is to know exactly what your going to do with your kart. Like I asked before, your kart is a dirt oval kart. Is that what your going to do with it? If your going to run on a track, what kind, how big, what surface?
High horse power modified engine make there power way up in the rpm range at the expense of low rpm performance. So a 20 hp clone engine wont be much good on a fun kart. Fill us in on your plans.
