Homemade Off Road Mini Bike

Well theres a new project coming up this summer! I bought the parts from northern tool but still need wheel hubs, axle, brake drum, and locking collars. I did a quick drawing on google sketchup and annotated the frame to size. I hope it works out and will have goodies on there such as a dashboard with a gps, front light switch, backlight switch, switch for red led's under the fender and frame , and a radio. If i can find guages for cheap i might get them, however i have most of the stuff mentioned above. The paint will be black, silver, and red as an accent, and will paint a clear gloss coat overtop. The wheels are 22 inch ATV wheels and the rims will be painted black. I got a 6.5 hf motor on sale for $70 and will have a jackshaft and #35 chain. For now i have a cent. clutch but when i save enough money i will definately be getting a tc. The gear ratio will be around 8:1 only because it is offroad and i want to do wheelies . I hope this turns out good and there will most likely be a step by step video build like t-man did with his trike. Anyways any suggestions or coments would be greatly appreciated!!!

Rake is the angle your front forks are at. I think it is slanted to far back for those tires.

But thats just me. If you like it go with it friend.

I like the idea. Just a side note, pressing print screen and then going into paint and pressing ctrl-v (paste) will paste a screen shot so you don't have to take pictures of your screen. From paint, you can save the "drawing" (screenshot) as a img file and upload it.

appreciate the help bighead! yea i was kinda thinking the same thing too, so you think i should move it closer towards the frame?? What do you think would be a good angle?

i like making bikes with as little slant in the fork as possible.

gives it a feel that theres more control, youre more on top of the front wheel. if its too slanted then when you turn the bike changes height and makes turning feel weird.

I would use the same rake as what is used on a dirt bike.

if you can, space out the jack shaft perfectly, so when the time comes, you can hopefully just bolt the tc right on there!

EDIT: i also agree with changing your rake.

maybe some suspension? i'm going to guess that your going off road.

Make sure that you build that thing heavy and strong enough, considering the size of the wheels and the potential off roading use. It is better to build it overly strong to begin with that have to fix weaks spots later. Gusset as much as possible in areas that will be handling a huge amount of force and pressure.
