looks good, i made one with an old carb cleaner can once, same design as yours. it made a nice sound, not the quietest but who cares about that?

I didnt really model it off anything. Im too cheap to go to the hardware store and buy a tiny one for $5. I had some stuff laying around, and figured it would be perfect. Im gonna weld it tomorrow or friday. I need to make a exhaust pipe for it too and then ill bolt it on and see how it does.

I thought of using a spray can but figured those would be too thin to easliy weld. As it turns out mapp gas tanks are about 16 gauge, the same as the pipe, so it works perfect

Yea, it was i actually made it a pressure fit, i made the insert and hammered it into the can, then a clamp on one side and it cant slide out.

Wrap the tube in steel wool before you weld it shut. (be careful not to light it all on fire whilst welding it though) They did basically the same thing on MuscleCar a couple weeks ago for their AF/X drag car. A friend made one for his scooter too, and I used a Seafoam can to make one for my Briggs.

did you have a piece of metal seperating the two sides or did the exhaust just flow straight through. Im hoping to quiet the kart without the backpressure of the stock muffler.

I actually have a DuPont spraypaint can for the muffler on one of my bikes, guys. Granted, it's a 47cc pocketbike (oops, is that a bad word here?), but it sure quieted everything down. I sliced the bottom of the can off, pried off the top, fitted it to the exhaust pipe, then drilled out the bottom of the can to accept the stock endcap and pinned it back on. Works just fine ....

Kaptain, Whats the purpose of the washers? Are you using a washer with a smaller ID then the exhaust tube ID and welding it inline with the exhaust?

I just kept the valve on the torch open all night(it was already nearly completly empty). Then Pried the bottom off and cut a hole in the top and bottom with a hole saw.

Not sure how to do it on those little bottles, but just leaving it open for a while is a recipe for exploding yourself. There is a high chance that there will be gas still in the bottle.

I'd probably try filling it as you have suggested, but I would never cut one open without filling it with water somehow.

theres a seperate valve next to the main valve. You could attatch a hose to the main one and push the pin on the second to let the air out.
