Hello all. My sons go kart has a HF Blue 6.5 engine. He is really freaked out by loud noise (probably due to his ear problems as a baby). Does anyone have any recommendations on making this thing as quite as possible. Right now it just has the stock muffler.

Bigger muffler would probably do the trick, but if you're really desperate how about ear plugs, or some of those ear muff looking things?

I have never tried to make one more muffled, lol.

Instead of a car muffler look for a scooter muffler. Since its for the son the power loss you get from it should be ok. What about plumbing the exhaust down and away out the back? You would have to make your own flange for the exhaust port to add a car/scooter muffler anyways so I would try that before spending on the car/scooter muffler too.

Call a lawnmower shop and ask for the guy thats been working there the longest, when he gets on the phone ask him if he has ever seen a motor with an all out quiet muffler and then ask how much, lol.

I was just thinking the headphone, ear plugs, etc will make it very hard to hear Mom yell "dinner is ready", or Dad scream "stop chasing the dog", not to mention cars and such. My karts loud, I never know when someone is behind me. My next kart is getting a rear-view mirror, lol.

A stock 6.5 is pretty quiet. If you need it to be quiter try a larger muffler of some sort. It wont get a whole lot quieter though. Is he afraid of everything loud or just uncomfortable with the go kart?

I have never worked on a gas powered golf cart, but i've driven them and you can barely tell there not electric. One i drove i looked under it to check if it was a gas or electric. Maybe you could find a used golf cart and take the muffler off it, im sure it would restrict the hp quite a bit but it would be worth it if your son is happy.
