Does the switch have a 'start' post? If not you will need to get another switch or just run a momentary switch. Any pictures or diagrams? Will be able to easily sort this if you have some.

Good luck!

Dude....it is only 5.5 hours since your last post. The community is small here and most of the people are sleeping now. You just have to be patient until someone gets to you. Not all of us know about these things either.

Edit: and here is your diagram

Well wire it up as it says

Connect ground to ground
Connect CDI to on
Connect starter to start

It is Likely the last two are for extra lights
Follow the wires it will tell u what they are for

Do u still have the E stop
They may be for that

Connect the battery
Touch the green wire to the yellow red this should turn the engine over

Pinch the green/white wire to the green and touch the yellow red wire
This should turn the engine over and give u a spark
The engine should start

Separate the green from the green white
If this doesn't shut off the engine then hit the E stop or strike the red and black wires
Or unplug the spark plug

The wireing diagram is very simple
Spend some time to study it

It is Likely the red and black wires are extensions of old wires

That's quite a score! FYI, that's got a "GY6" engine, basically a chinese/taiwanese/korean clone of an 80's-era Honda Scooter engine. Good engines, tons of inexpensive / cheap parts available on the internet. Downside is that some of the parts are truly cheap...and many of the wiring diagrams are generic or at least not truly specific.

OK, I'm with fowler, I'd get a cup of coffee and stare at the wiring diagram and kart for a bit...

Know that once running, GY6 engines provide their own ignition power, so you NEED a kill switch (ignition ground) to turn off the engine - disconnecting the battery won't do it. My strong suspicion is that the "extra" black and red wires are for another engine-kill (ignition grounding) circuit. Many GY6's have 4-, 5-, sometimes 6-wire key switches where the key also kills the engine, in addition to a remote kill switch on the handlebars.

Surely your autozone switch has the following, but you'll need an ignition switch with "Battery", "Run", and "Start" terminals, where you turn the key from "Off" (nothing connected) to "Run" (connects battery to ignition), then turn it some more against a spring to "Start" (where it also connects battery to starter), then it goes back to the "Run" position. Hook it up like fowler suggested, and it oughta be fine.

Note that turning that key "Off" won't kill the engine, only the "E-Stop" switch will do that. I think. If the diagram is otherwise correct.

thanks for all the help, as far as the bump the other forum im on people will not see the post if its not the same day dint mean to sound over excited
i still have the kill switch hooked up and there is another switch for the lights that is still hooked up.
the extra red wire hase 12v going to it all the time.

i crosed the 2 green wires and the yellow red wire and it will start and run but as soon as i take the green white wire off it dies, any ideas?
if i just touch the g/w wire to the yellow red it will turn over but gets no spark.

ive been staring at the wiring diagram and wires for a week its quite agrivating.

i tryied to wire it up as suggested and it will start with the switch , but as soon as i let off the switch it dies.
i have to spray gas in the carb to get it started and it will run for 10 sec as long as i hold it down. i took the tank off cleaned it and the peccock is cloged so i just rigged up a bottle with gas but it wont stay runnin. i took the carb off and took off the bowl and it doesnt look clogged. any suggestions?

nope that sounds right

the green wire is the ground and requires u to have it always connected

the green/white wire "controls" if u will the CDI and the yellow/red wire closes the starter solinoid

so u should be able to pinch the G and G/W wires together and then strike the Y/R to that
when the engine has started u release the Y/R wire and it should stay running

when u release the G/W from the G it should shut off as the cdi no longer has any power to it

of course non of this will work if the carp is dirtly

clean it before u proceed so u can eliminant it as a variable

EDIT
u say it will only run if u hold the switch down
is the green/ white wire connected to the on leg or the start leg

Yup, fowler is right - I shoulda said that *usually* GY6's need a kill switch...

BTW, lemon juice is an incredible carb cleaner.

ive cleaned the carb, the needle was stuck. it wasnt durty just old gas, the kart hasnt been run that much it just sat for 2 yrs with no gas cap.as far as carb cleaner i usually soak the bad ones( on cars) in kerosene over night and it will usually free everything up, if not take it apart and rebuild it, but again thats on cars.

the switch is kinda crazy to me, should the two green wires be on the same post?
i have it wired
battery=yellow red
ignition=green white
ground=green
when i wire these switches to race cars i usually add a starter button on the wire goin to the starter, can i do the same o the kart?
also there is a plug and 2 wires going to somthing on the carb, i thought it was an electric choke until i took it apart and now i have no idea.

and thanks for the help

i have no idea why there would be two wires going to the carb
O2 sensor?
mixture sensor?
does this thing have an ecu?

u have the yellow/red and the green/white mixed

I was going to surgest u just use two switches

u can run the green and green/white to a toggle switch with a missile cover (as a quick kill)
then run the yellow/red to a push button and link the green to it as well

I assume they will for a fuel cut off solenoid. I have seen a few larger Hondas with them. This will be another way to turn it off. Just make sure by having a look.

its not an o2 sensor and i dont believe it has an ecu.

a fuel cut silinoed sounds about right the parts manual says its a by starter assmbley auto, if that help any. would that be the reason u wouldnt get fuel to the carb?

i think using 2 switches is what im going with. ill post an update this afternoon after it warms up and i give it a try. thanks for all the help.
