That's quite a score! FYI, that's got a "GY6" engine, basically a chinese/taiwanese/korean clone of an 80's-era Honda Scooter engine. Good engines, tons of inexpensive / cheap parts available on the internet. Downside is that some of the parts are truly cheap...and many of the wiring diagrams are generic or at least not truly specific.
OK, I'm with fowler, I'd get a cup of coffee and stare at the wiring diagram and kart for a bit...
Know that once running, GY6 engines provide their own ignition power, so you NEED a kill switch (ignition ground) to turn off the engine - disconnecting the battery won't do it. My strong suspicion is that the "extra" black and red wires are for another engine-kill (ignition grounding) circuit. Many GY6's have 4-, 5-, sometimes 6-wire key switches where the key also kills the engine, in addition to a remote kill switch on the handlebars.
Surely your autozone switch has the following, but you'll need an ignition switch with "Battery", "Run", and "Start" terminals, where you turn the key from "Off" (nothing connected) to "Run" (connects battery to ignition), then turn it some more against a spring to "Start" (where it also connects battery to starter), then it goes back to the "Run" position. Hook it up like fowler suggested, and it oughta be fine.
Note that turning that key "Off" won't kill the engine, only the "E-Stop" switch will do that. I think. If the diagram is otherwise correct.
