Hey guys I have a manco quicksilver, had for years and no issues till last week , it’s leaking oil thru the carb and smoking real bad. What is the issue ? And is it worth fixing or should I replace the engine?

OR....intake valve is not seating...
Could be, but there shouldn't be oil in the upper cylinder to come back out the intake. The rings would have to be shot as well for that much oil to be in there.
Or... You have WAY too much oil in the crankcase.
Or if your rings are shot and you haven't changed the oil in aeons, there could be enough fuel leaked into the oil to thin it out where it's leaking past the valve guides and/or piston rings. Contaminate oil would also accelerate wear on said parts.
And I saw you mentioned starting fluid in that other guy's thread. If you were manually holding the throttle plate open and hit it with starting fluid, you could have easily over-revved it, which on a stock Tecumseh is a death sentence for the valves.
So I’m screwed? Cheaper and faster to replace the engine?
Hey thanks nosandwich! Double checked the oil and it had too much! Smh ( my son the mechanic) put too much in! I drained it n filled to correct mark. Started right up with half a pull. No smoke and no Tecumseh tears! Lol ! She’s purring like a kitten now! Thanx guys
I ask my buddy, who claims to be a Mechanic at a Ford dealership, questions about my Fusion all the time. He doesn't know much. LOL. But to be fair, the Duratec engine I have is basically a throw away engine. Used engines are like $800. Probably costs that much to replace a head gasket at the dealership. I wanted to know about roller finger followers and the variable valve timing. ???? I gave him my Teckasheema engine and he wouldn't have been able to get it started if I didn't show him how.
