It could be sparking at the wrong time

Or the spark isn't constant

Or it won't spark under very high pressure

Or it's not strong enough

I think u will find russ is right almost always

I guess you guys dont think that some of the statments I made are not real senarios?

You may be getting an indication of spark, but:
Is it happening at the correct time?
Is it strong enough?
Is it consistent?

The fact that raw gas is being introduced and is not firing tells me that ignition system (in some way) is faulty.
Low compression is a possibility, but very unlikely. Even with no compression you should get something!
I would strongly suggest checking timing...condition of coil and secondary wire and get a known good plug.
Use a non resistor plug if possible.

I agree. I was introduced to such possibility once when I had to work on a truck that wouldn't start. It had spark (weak) and wouldn't even kick on ether. I went to great lengths to test sensors and all kinds of things. Eventually, I relented and swapped in another ignition coil. Fired right up. Spark was there, not strong enough.

I saw spark, then wasted a retarded amount of time testing sensors and whatnot. Don't assume anything.

I am wondering how this will come out. Hopefully the OP will let us know. I can't figure out how you can have spark and fuel without combustion. 2+2 does not=4 in this case. I keep going back to sand in the carb bowl and dry plugs, but direct fuel shots usually fire right off.
Maybe he should try again with carb cleaner. Could be as simple as bad fuel.

It certainly could be old fuel. Or bad timing. Poor compression. Inadequate spark. We know he has spark and fuel. We don't know about the condition of the spark or fuel, or the other variables.

As an example off the top of my head: If your timing key has shorn, you can have a good strong spark, plenty of fuel, and no fire, no matter how many shoulders you dislocate while yanking your brains out. Bad timing.

Sorry to butt in but couldn't you narrow it down? Use fresh fuel, clean filter, clean carb, new plug, and if that fails , put half a teaspoon of oil in the sparkplug hole (incase it's a compression issue) then try and start it, if it won't start after all this then it's got to be a timing/ coil issue,

Sorry to butt in

Don't be sorry- that's what a forum (especially this one) is all about. People trying to help folks out. Always feel free to offer up an opinion, idea, or troubleshooting tip. Sooner or later, somebody will come on and say just the right thing that results in solving the problem. Might be you.

Il remember that one thanks :)

Just read back through the post , it's a 2 stroke 125 bike engine, is the ignition a 1 wire points system ( old kind) or is it controlled by an ecu ?, the sand in the carb points too a dirty tank , best clean and flush it,

If it was my engine then I would be taking the head off to see if any sand might of got into the cylinder, could of blown a piston ring,

Okay so checked for spark again today and I loose most of spark as soon as i touch it to the block. If I hold it a 1/2 inch away it will spark onto the block great but touch it and looses almost everything

Saw a video on YouTube called No spark when grounded? And same issue and everyone is saying short in the plug

I will try this and let you guys know Thanks for the help so far.

What should be- holding the threaded portion of the spark plug to a clean bare portion of the block or head, should exhibit a nice blue spark jumping from the center electrode to the side electrode. If this is NOT happening, first try a different spark plug. For testing purposed, take one out of your car, it's doesn't matter they type or rating.

Once you have verified spark, and if test shows good, go buy another spark plug of the correct type, set gap, and install.

I also noticed I get a bit of a shock once in a while when turning key on the part where it says start

:iagree: It sounds like you have some major electrical problems; at the very least, the whole system isn't grounded properly... &, yes, that would cause ignition problems...
