Hey everybody.
I just bought a frame for a mini bike for 35 bucks and with a 3.5 hp briggs on it. i didnt like the speed of the 3.5 hp with a crap clutch so i added a 5hp with a branddyy new centrifugal clutch. Well today i just got it the motor on it today and got a new coil so it would start =) starts fine but the motor would run for 2 seconds and then die. if you hold the throttle full out and lift up a bit the motor dies. i tried fixing the idleing screw and it ran somewhat decent. i had rode the bike across town and had to turns around and it died. i got it to a friends house and started looking at the fuel, spark and air. Fuel-3/4 tank still. Spark-looked like FIRE =), Air-took of air cleaner and felt the suction. So here i am at a friends house trying to figure out how to get the damn thing to start and keep running. i played with the fuel mixture screw and got it half way decent juts to get home and off i went. I ripped up the road and the first corner was tricky. Very tight and almost veered into the wet grass. the bike has NO brakes and if you lift too much the bike will stall... =(. just as i got around the corner the chain popped off. Ive had this problem all day. i cant keep it tight. no matter what i do to get it tight it will loosen up... The motor does pull very very nice all though and its pretty fast. i was ripping up the road and blew by a couple of cars, but then again they could of been going slow due to heavy fog but whatever.also i got a wire running out of my coil. I hooked it up to a grounded switch and it works as a kill switch, but is it possible to connect it to the positive in the battery and use that for a charging system without blowing up a motor and getting acid into my eyes and legs and on my balls? hah:D . seriously tho. i dont want to blow up anything. i dont NEED a kill switch being the fact i can just pull the choke and the motor dies. now i will upload some pictures within a few days but i just need some help with the following.

SUMMERY:

usually for electric start, assuming an oem unit is used you plug them in. with the brakes pics, stalling, use the air fuel mix screw scrww it all the way in not tight just in and then turn it back out 2 1/2 turns out and go from there thats what i do when i get in an odd place. It could be that its way to rich making it only run when its open because it get wnough air to ignight the fuel, so maybe before doing what i said before turn in the screw 1 turn and see if that helps. as for the chain pics, does your wheel or the motor rotate to make the chain loose?

i put a tie strap around the motor to hold the motor as far forward as it would go and i took an impact gun to the bolts to try and keep the motor from moving and it was actually tight. but then i just got across town and it loosend up about 1''.i cant get pictures quiet yet, only from a cell phone being the computer that has the picture program isnt working. it will be working in about a week or so. only thing i can do is take some pics with the cell phone and email them but that takes a long time to do.i will try and get some more pics soon...

hey guys. long time no talk... ive been really busy with this mini bike. i just got it running! i had thought i blown it up because i accidently hit a battery + to the magneto armature kill wire and the motor ignited the gas in the compression chamber and thus the motor smoked, a really white/blueish smoke.... thought the coil blew. anyways, i found alot of my problems. The Battery- wall outlet chargers from www.northerntool.com (75 amp start, 12 fast charge and 2 amp trickle charge) The kill switch is just wired into a keyswitch and also a battery meter is now installed. The rear tire got new high speed racing bearings. the stalling was due to lose bolts on the gas tank (fixed with threadlock and locknut washers) and the chain popping off i fixed by putting motor as far back as it goes and took out as many links as possible so it was snug (stretched but still tight) now the last thing i need to do is get a new sprocket. i want the bike to go like 40mph. i had my brother clock the bike as i drove it. he told me it was about 31mph. what tooth gear is ideal for a minibike? i got a 67 tooth gear (maybe 66) on now. anybody got a website i can go to also??

SUMMARY
NEED A NEW GEAR?
