Hey folks. I'm back (no one knows me) from a three-year hiatus to come back and ask about some karts I have. I'll load some pics up soon and get a build thread going on them.

So I have a Thunderkarts w the 5hp fun power b/s. I'm going to add bigger tires to the rear and put a bigger engine on it. I want to make it a small beach/dirt kart type of deal. maybe a 13 hp motor. (I'm fat)
I wish I could use the 22hp motor off my Poulan on it, but oh well.

I also have a little home-made looking kart that I'll get some pictures up soon as I can. They are both at the blasters right now getting blasted and a few welds added here and there. I think I'll end up putting the fun power motor on this one as it's for my 7-year-old son and its a smaller kart. I also have two honda 5.5 motors off of water pumps, although I think when I bust those open, they may be too far gone to use.

on a one wheel peel a 13hp is kinda pointless I guess..
22hp is completely absurd.

you'd need to upgrade to a live axle first,
then you can actually make use of additional torque.

And I think I know someone will be asking shortly if you'd give him that flathead ;)

I just want a motor size that will move my big butt around. I'm not looking for pure speed by any means, but I'd like to make it through the mud and sand. I'd be willing to sell it.

A bigger motor will just help you dig to China a might bit faster with that one wheel spinning wildly, carving a nice rut in the grass.

I'd fix the kart up and sell it intact, with that flathead on it, and then look for a live axle kart.
Sid is right.

Just how big a boy are you?

Welcome back! :welcome2:
If that Briggs is in good condition and you want it off your hands, there's a slight chance I could buy it from you, but please don't count on it.
I need Jupiter and Saturn to align first.
(A ride to a purchase spot and MONEY). :roflol:

okay, I think the smaller kart I have is a Manco. It has these exact same wheels on it. The tires are 4.10/3.50-5 but what size rims do I need to get for it? It gives a suggestion for the aluminum Tri-Star's, but I'd rather get some unpainted ones I can prime and paint a certain color.

Tri-Stars are unpainted, just bare aluminum. Polished a little, but bare. You could paint those.

Otherwise there's steel rims galore out there. What kart is the Manco? One-wheel drive or two?
I'd make recommendations but I don't know if you have 5/8" diameter axles and a live axle in the rear, or........?

Another option would be the Azusa Azusalites made of black Zytel/Nylon--very strong very light but at a decent price.

EDIT: suggest moving this to the main Go Kart area or Project Log, for crying out loud.

hey guys! picked up another kart today. says scout on it. looks like it has a decal that says x25 on it as well. has a 5.0 Tecumseh on it. it leaks fuel like crazy, so I'll have to see what it takes to fix it. its been sitting for 2-3 years, I cleaned the spark plug on it, added new fuel and oil, it took a few pulls but it ran! If anyone knows what kind of kart this is let me know, I've been looking up scout and x25 but nothing really comes up. found a sticker saying "karts international" with a place in Louisiana and a model number I believe. after more research, looks like a yerf dog 1203 maybe? I just don't see any models without the front cage on it.
