Gy6 vs predator 420. Potential restore question

I think I'm ready to test this beast. tomorrow I'm going to make sure all the nuts and bolts are tight, put gas in and give it a shot.

on a fun note, I saw somewhere in the forum that bicycle brake cables were a good option for an accelerator cable. so I used that option. I think it will work out just right

thanks! I put the oil in Friday. lol. although I appreciate the reminder. I'm the one that would get 200 yards in and realize... oops

it runs and drives! but it didn't go far. the makeshift throttle cable snapped. which was odd. but I just ordered a real one. I will make do with that I have on it until that one arrives.

the throttle cable is fixed. but I have to take a link our of the chain. there is clearly some flex because the chain is exceptionally loose and pops right off. it wasn't loose when I initially put it on though

No doubt! Also check and make sure you don’t have a flex problem also with the trailing arm.

I took my chain off to see If I could tighten it. all 4 bolts to my motor mount were pretty loose.
I am thinking I either forgot to tighten them after I adjusted the chain the first time or I had enough flex to loosen them.
I had about 30 seconds of riding time so I am leaning towards me being a dumbass and not tightening the bolts after.
Having ADD can be dangerous hahaha

OK. I got the chain on. snug but not tight. motor bolted down. installing the proper accelerator cable now. then the new brake line and caliper since the other one isn't working at all

Well I don't mean to hijack a thread but I'm having trouble IDing my kart. Can't ask for help if I don't know where to start. It's one of the "Spider 200" style frames Kandi, Tao Tao (Targa) and Coleman now sell but I can't find pictures or confirmation of any of the parts on mine to tell me exactly what it is. Vin seems to be gone too.

I appreciate the offer though. I suggest the OP ditch the GY6 and go 420

It's a one of the old Kandi or Tao Targa style 200 Buggies. It has a Yonghe GY6 and an odd master cylinder I can't find a picture of online

I found the steering kit on Amazon. It's an aftermarket Pro Bat kit, not original

what I did with mine is took out the old master cylinder and put one I got from gopowersports. honestly for the master cylinder as long as you can bolt it on so the brake pedal actuates the cylinder it will work. just make sure you get one that the brake cable is long enough to reach the caliper. I bought one that was too short. then I got a longer one already filled with fluid and bled.

I ended up replacing the accelerator cable, front struts, all 4 shocks, rear axel and everything on it. mostly to make it easier for me. but I didn't have to.
most of these Chinese buggies use pretty much the same stuff. you probably won't find "OEM" replacement parts

I'm already planning to use parts from GPS to convert it to the same struts, brakes and wheels as my buddy. That way we can carry the same spare parts between us and fix anything that breaks out in the woods rather than mickey mousing the "boutique" components of my obscure rig. I just want to ID mine so I have a starting point in terms of searches, dimensions and planning

update. I got the chain completely figured out. this thing drives great. I just need to get the brakes done so I can stop it without using my foot in the dirt.
