GY6 Engine

So YerfDog is all fixed so posted it on Craigslist. Got a guy to trade go karts with. Not to sure the make of the go kart i'm getting but it looks like it has a GY6 engine on it. Never worked with these types of engines before and the engine needs a few things. So when i get it i will need help knowing where the solenoid starter relay is and he said it also needs a off and on switch for the gas and probably a spark plug.

Gotta admire these hopeful, preemptive forum inquiries about something that's not yet a reality.

If you do get it, paint it silver and white and make it a "moon buggy". Then wear a space suit (with its own air conditioner) when you drive it.

Just got the go kart. Need a fuel line for sure. Need to re-mount the gas tank which wont be to hard.

Heres another picture of the engine. I'm not to sure what other parts i need to get it running. He said it needs a solenoid starter relay and it looks like it needs an air filter too.

I would suggest a new plug wire... A properly sized one... That broken but repaired small wire... Will burn in short order...
Wire like that isn't meant to handle those voltages..
You can get short or spare wires with a boot, you can use that to replace the one you have...

Oh okay Yeah they did just duct tape that clamp to it haha. Is this the right part for it? What does this plug too? The spark plug?

Where would this black hose go? Picture is upside down sorry. It's a hose attacked to the carburator.

That hose is just a drain line. If you open the screw right next to it, then the fuel will go through the hose instead of on top of the engine. Just route it so it points toward the ground.

Oh okay thanks Its been sitting so long i don't know if it has water in it or not. Sound like alot of liquid in there when i move it.

If theres fuel that has been sitting in it then the carb will need cleaned. Remove it and drain the fuel and clean the jets and passages.

As for you plug wire(/coil?) Im not totally familiar with these engines... I will have to say that that looks alot like what you need... but of the many sources out there will have what you need or at least can identify the one you have and suggest the one you need...

That coil looks correct for the motor. I've got a few of these engines in different sizes.

They said they installed a new carb but still going to drain out the gas or whatever is making that noise in the engine. I ordered 3 parts today that will come in on Thursday and its the solenoid starter relay, ignition coil and the fuel tank shut off valve. I'm hoping that's all it will need so i can ride it around and get the mini bike i also got going.

Crank case vent?

Yeah that looks like a vent hose. Normally they're longer and connected to the air box.

An idea would be to put one of those cheap fuel filters on, to keep the stuff being sucked into the motor....

Okay so going to buy an air filter. Would it be okay just to leave the house like that? I put a newer longer one on it last night.
