I’ll finish it and race it, but right now I’m sidetracked with my turbo LS pinto wagon, and my turbo LS S1-0

Looking back I think having a wagon would have been better, but at the time my Runabout was the best car at a good price. No LS power though.

I look forward to seeing how the GX500 turns out too.

The ford purists would like yours a lot more than they like mine.
I find it comical how angry they get over how I’m spending my money on my car.

It has Chevy metric calipers on the front though. ;)

I used to be a Ford purist and that's partly why I went with the 2.3T, but am now more pragmatic. If the end goal can't be done realistically with all-Ford parts, I don't worry about it anymore. If the 2.3T scatters for some reason, I'll probably go with something Toyota. Heck, I thought about putting a Toyota 1UZ-FE (Lexus 4.0L V8) in my '68 Mustang. Even has the same firing order as early Ford smallblocks.

And just like that I have a 96mm bore GX390.
With the 69mm stroke crank it works out to be 500.13cc.
Now I’m just waiting on my new reamers to show up so that I can mock it all up with a stock rod so I can get an idea of what to order for rod length.View attachment 130257

(96mm x 69mm) 499.44cc. The GX390 Case Max Bore is 100mm with a Sleeve. If you Nikasil it, you can go Bigger.

The Biggest Single I have seen is (100mm x 86.5mm) 679.37cc. The Vegas Cart 625 is (96mm x 86.5mm) 626.11cc. Stock 23hp@3600rpm.

I think 500 will be fine for the short tracks I race on. I’m a bullring guy, besides, I can bore and sleeve in my garage, I’d have to send it out for nikasil

The world may never know. Nate hasn’t been back. NATE COME BACK!!!!
Thats too bad. This build was inspiring.:) But maybe 96mm in a stock block was a bit optimistic. Only one way to find out though...

Maybe a picture of something similar might lure him back?...10bolt block. 95mm piston => 510cc (would be 521cc if I dared to use the 96mm piston that @Flyinhillbilly used)
