In post #17 you mention how much fun you have building the stuff for your Grandsons ( glad you didn't refer to them as grandbrats ) I'm sure that's tongue
in cheek. I can really relate to that. I don't weld but fabricate a lot and have a good welding shop 5 minutes from my house. I get the most enjoyment building the small engines. Even though that means I am spending money on
cams and rods and stainless steel valves and the likes, I am in a position where
if I don't go crazy, and stretch the purchases out a little I can afford it. Been a
hotrodder and car guy all my life. But the karts both size and budget for my retirement just fine. And when one of the Grandkids puts there foot in it and the
thing rips real good, I think the smile on my face is at least as big as the smile
on theirs. Very satisfying hobby for me.

And you call yourself a master hack, I’m ashamed of you. You have a whole garage full of amazing and wonderful tools and can’t figure out a way of attaching a steel or aluminum drive pulley for that alternator? Turn in your hack license right now mister!

Well, l do not call myself a hack of any kind and l don’t like to brag, but l was awarded that title when l got my PHD in Hack Engineering. I have also been granted a technician license in Zip tie engineering. Which is proudly displayed on the wall in the shop.


as for attaching a drive puley l have considered all options. The problem is, l am saving room for the A/C compressor and belt driven supercharger. There is only so much l can attach to that shaft! So perhaps you can better understand my dilemma?

We are very much alike, been a car guy since i started to drive and still am. I just can’twork on em anymore, its too difficult. I have my keeper that l take out and have fun with during the summer, but sold the rest. The little things are so much easier and allow my creative inner hack more freedom to run wild. I’ve accumulateda lot of tools over the years, cuz l had to, so now l a pretty well equiped shop and enjoy working on my wild off the wall projects. I‘m a beginner with these karts, but l’m able to figure out stuff quickly have a blast doing it. I agree with you 100%, very satisfing hobby.

I still have way too many cars and projects.
I do know of a way to fit a/c, alt, power steering pump and supercharger. Just make the pto shaft on the other side longer.

So, l pulled the engine out as part of a total disassembly project in preperation for paint.
While at it i finished up the alternator mount and got the alignment right so the belt tracks straight.
Also i completed Rev. 4.6 on the mopar HEI crank pickup.
I improved the 30mm PWK carb/intake goober job.

Update on this alternator project.
it works! Battery voltage is 13.8 @ idle! The belt runs true and doesn’t slip.
only time will tell how well it hold up.
