I don't think kids get to do it today with what we had. I believe they now use baking soda and vinegar.
But somewhere back in grade school, it was a class project to build a pretty good sized volcano, using paper mache and plaster.
After it was all painted and dry, the science teacher put something in a can at the top. It was an orange powder IIRC, and it had to be lit with a magnesium strip.
It shot sparks and orange flame out the top. I can't remember if it flowed or not, but it was pretty darn cool.
Anyone remember these, and what was the powder?
