got my first mini bike project!!!

Hi guys!! Short time member, long time browser. I really enjoy everyone's posts here. I picked up this mini bike last night for $30. I also picked up for free a rotatiller and snow blower. I got the Rota tiller running. It has a 6.5hp engine. Brand is greyhound.. so I figured I'll use the motor from the tiller for the bike. Here is a pic. I don't know the brand or if it's a home built/modified. Once I take it apart and have the frame powdercoated I'll go from there. Thanks!!

Make sure the motor has a straight keyed shaft and not tapered one. Clutch can't mount to the latter.

Not modified just stripped down. The motor mount on it is for a 49cc 2 stroke so that section needs modifying.

FYI Your Greyhound 6.5 is a clone of a Honda GX200. From what I have been told on this forum. It is an exact clone, comes out of the same Chinese production line as the Honda. As opposed to the predator vwhich is very close but not an exact clone. Something about patents and copyrights.

It has use to be a mini chopper / maybe something else wrote all over it, and x2 on that 49cc style engine mount.

I check eBay. And then other online stores like MFG and BMI Karts ,I often find myself at my local tractor supply pretty regularly too.

Why would you want to replace the carb. If it has one then you are good to go

I wasn't sure how it worked because it has a lever that brings it from low idle to high idle. Not sure how the mechanism works..lol.

Not much done. My sinuses are acting up. Pulled the motor today and had a look at the carb.


Here is the linkage that I'm a little confused about.

There are 3 levers. One for choke on the carb, one to open the valve for fuel and one that goes from slow idle to fast idle..

There is a nyloc nut on the center of the throttle lever, that everything hinges on. Loosen that nut, just enough that the throttle springs back closed when you push it open. That is how we make these go. I usually find a spot to put an extra return spring on there just to make sure the throttle does not stick. Also of course a good kill switch on the handle bars can help too.
There a little box on the front of that motor with some wires that got to the shut off switch. The box is a low oil sensor kill switch for stationary equipment this motor can be used on. On a mini bike this will kill the engine every time you lean or turn. If you disconnect the wire and run it to the handle bars and wire in a Horn or other momentary switch it makes a great kill switch. We can look at this later on when you get there for more detail.
