Hmmmm, Get the smaller engine for this project.

Have you looked on CL for used karts needing engines? Or frames?

yeah i would suggest finding a mini bike or go kart frame for your engine, then bolt it up and go! it will also be much safer.

I do check CL everyday. Someone is selling a used mini bike frame but for $!00? I'm not buying it. Doesn't even have a rear wheel. Rusty frame with front wheel. That's it. Also, I'm not really mini bikes. More of a 4 wheeler guy. Thinking about a Quad-bike. Getting a welder next month - just something to start learning with.

It went about normal kart speeds. I never clocked it. It has steering issues that made it twitchy at hi speeds. This was my first kart before I found this site.

A few days ago I saw what looked like a custom built bike with pedals and a 6.5hp clone mounted with the cylinder vertically. It can be done. see here.

Just pick this up today for $25 on CL. Its EXACTLY everything i wanted - 12" tires, brakes, motor mount plate/brakets, & sprocket. Planning to add/upgrade the brakes too. I was planning to do exactly this but its a miracle i found this. Was gonna go buy some gas powered scooter that some other guys selling for $100 but for $25, can't go wrong. The green and black color sections on the frame you see is just color duck tape.

the cheaply mounted 60T sprocket. Surprisingly holds very solid. According to this site's calculation I'll be doing 26mph on these sprockets. Its mounted on the wrong side but just gotta turn it around.
