Got a free electric pocket rocket frame!

I'll try n' get pictures later (leaving soon), but I was given a used (4 years old), electric pocket bike frame. The thing's stripped down to bare metal now, motor removed, ect.

Only things left on are the tires, sprocket, brakes, and chain.

I scrapped the motor (250W), as 1) it made a loud grinding noise when working, and 2) I'm going to "enginize" it.

It uses those realllyy small and thin chains, and I have the original motor drive sprocket. I was thinking of getting a small 2 stroke motor, and JB welding the sprocket on?

It is quite small... even my Briggs 2 horse motor won't fit inside there.

You can get little 50cc 2 strokes that have that kind of sprocket..i have 2 of them lol

why not just make it fit, st the crank down. if your buying a pocket bike engine it should have a clutch with sproket on it.

Well those engines are $90 shipped... way outta my budget. $70 was already stretching... I'm going to try and get a used trimmer engine from eBay.

I did some thinking... I'll need a clockwise turning engine to make it go FORWARD... so I'm thinking of reverting back to the electric idea... it came with a old 250W motor, so I'm thinking of putting in a 500W+ one? Then going from 24V to 36V?

Trimmer engine wouldn't be too fast stock, port that sucker out and put a decent pipe on it if you go that route. Used chainsaw engine would be better for this application, just weld the sprocket to the clutch drum (might want help with this so its centered perfectly) figure a way to bolt it up and go.

Yeah, but how do I place the clutch on? Big problem.

A saw would come with a clutch but it will be an inboard clutch for saw chain, you will need to mod it to accept regular chain. some trimmer also have clutches that use a 1/4"ID square shaft.

Interesting... well every trimmer with a clutch I see doesn't have the housing. I'd somehow have to mount that.

I'm thinking into the chainsaw idea. Plenty of power, RPMs, ect...

If I can't do chain drive, I'll try friction drive... ?

Notice how they have less than one minute of wear on them? They're practically brand new.

Hehe, this one has band brakes! Just pushing the lever down 1/2 locks the whole rear wheel up

Can I use the clutch itself as the "wheel"?
