Everybody and their brother runs those cause they are such a great deal, put $200 of parts into one and its race able. With a coupon/on sale sometimes they are only $100. Almost exact clone of a Honda GX200, almost all parts interchange(I believe only difference is the PTO side crank bearing is bigger than a real honda). Built by Chinese that were once farmed out to build real GX200s, now they make clones.

The GX 390 Honda engine I have resembles that one and sells for over $700 at Northern tools. I bought it from a friend of mine off his Water Cannon pressure sprayer for :D $50. He thought it was seized up. I removed the pressure sprayer pump from the 1 inch shaft and fired it right up! That one goes on my current custom stretch cart I am building.:D You can see that that engine and the Honda are simular like he said. Scott

Buy it before Lifan changes the design. It's already $10 higher than their usual "sale" price!

Too late, Lifan has changed the angle (to 27 degrees) and the gas tank/air cleaner. The air cleaner change and notch in the tank is a joke, but the change in piston angle will prevent most of the parts from being interchangeable with the Honda GX. The word is that Lifan, the biggest of the clone assembly houses, was targeted by Honda since they have the deepest pockets. This has not prevented the other 50+ clone assembly houses from continueing to make the 196cc 25 degree angle beast.

From what I understand, and I have been investigating this for the last 8 months, is that there are only a handful of places manufacturing the actual engine components (all the AL parts, and the moving stuff), and then all the various assembly houses build them per Honda/Kohler/etc specs.

So far, I have investigated 5 different assembly houses. On paper, the Lifan is middle of the pack on torque and HP (converted from KW, and then rounded up). The Yellow engine (Ducar, Chongping Dajiang) looks to be second, and the Red and White (Sanding, Weimi) appears to be the best. I am building a twin engine Kart that will put these two engines I have head to head to see if there really is a difference.

The 27 degree could mean nothing fits or the only thing that changed is the block. I bet they just changed the block angle to appease Honda.

Had this discussion long time ago. Check older threads.

Some parts STILL might exchange. What'd suck is if performance parts can't exchange.

I meant by my comment before HF starts swapping in for the new style Clones :(

Are you saying you like the slanted jug or not so much?

I really do like the slant jug! I don't know why. Is this the change they are going to make and is this gonna degrade the future 390's? I love this engine. What are your preferences? Slant cylinders or verticles? Which is best and why? Scott P.S.---> Remember the ole(Dodge) 'slant 6's'? They had power for some reason.;)

So I did see other threads about this subject. The threads also lead to another forum that had the source of the pictures. If I go by the 1st picture(directly below) posted on the HF site, then it doesn't look like I'm getting the new style. I'll have to see when I actually get it.
