Okay so as you all may know i ordered a straigt pipe for my predator 212cc and a .36 main jet. So now when i give it gas it sounds like it should at first but then when you give it more gas it starts kind of stalling but it doesnt turn off it sounds like its stalling and like it needs more gas but i don't know whats wrong with it. Im not sure if i put on the green gasket correctly i dont know how to upload pictures so can someone please send me a picture of how the gasket is supposed to be placed. When i only had the straight pipe on it it went fast and it ran good but then once i put the main jet on it it started to fail. I think another problem might of been that the sprocket had moved and was hitting the torque covertor alot also but i didnt notice till afterwords. I did end up taking off the green gasket and putting it in another way but i couldnt test it out because once i started going the chain started rubbing against the cluth and creating sparks and it fell and got stuck so it took me forever to get it unstuck and i tried to get it back on but the sprockets werent aligned at all and there was no use trying so i just went home and moved it over put the chain back on, ect and by the time i finished it got to dark to be riding so i jist called it a day. Tommorow in the morning i will be testing it out again but i wanted help first. Thank you for your help

I forgot to mention that even at full throttle the go kart goes about 5 mph or less. Its not giving alot of power but the straight pipe is still sounding loud.

my go kart usually goes more than 20 mph ive never calculated he speed

Also after i added the main jet it started too backfire

Try switching the jet back.
It sounds like it is flooding.
Bogging down, not burning a good fuel air mix.
The back fire is unburnt fuel.
The spark plug is probably wet, take a look.

Nah, can't recall who you are or what you've bought. I'm not that good. :p If there's a prior thread with your kart in it, your engine, and your specified speed parts, there's no shame in adding another post to that thread. It creates a path of continuity.

Sounds like lots of issues with your engine. One thing is certain, speed is either a concrete piece of data or you're left to perceiving it--right or wrong. There's smartphone apps for GPS speed and you can even bring a Garmin or other GPS mapping device along for the ride, using its internal battery to calculate your speed.

I heard jet, I heard exhaust. Did you mention air filter?
Got to do all three.

If you just do the jet and the exhaust, but not the intake....
It will be Richie Richie.

Maybe just take off the air box and try without the filter.
Should fix it, then buy air filter adapter and K&N style filter.

What the "fund" is the green gasket?
Between the carB and air box?
ill find a pic or a video.

I think the hole goes over the slit/groove on the top right (if looking at the installed carb from the air box side) if that makes sense.

Try without the air filter and see how it runs.
As in - take the whole thing off. Just for testing purposes.
If it fixes it, problem identified. If not, keep searching for the problem.

Okay so heres an update. I just finished testing it out so heres what i did i drilled more holes into the air filter cover thing (the box thing). So i took it for a test ride with the black box but with no air filter. It ran pretty good but i had to mess with the fuel on and off swith alot like to start i left it open all the way but it wasnt going fast like it used to so i turned the lever to off and it like gave the gokart a little boost but then it started to stall i had to turn the fuel on again can anyone twll me why thats happening i wasnt able to try it out alot only for like 5 minutes

Would you say there was an improvement?
Does this mean moving in the right direction?

Try without the air box. No filter, No Box. Just the carb.
So you will be looking at the choke plate inside the carb.

Hmmm?

I'm kinda stumped. Maybe it is possible that it is too lean with no airbox and too rich with the filter? Maybe you could play with the choke if it is too lean with no filter?

Easy stuff never works. LOL

1.) Check for gasket leaks.
Spray some starting fluid or carb cleaner around the intake gaskets (Both sides of the plastic insulator that sits behind the carb). Do this at idle as listen for change in RPM. If the spray gets into the cylinder, you have a leak. Could also use WD-40 if you don't have carb cleaner. But you should get carb cleaner for #2.

2.) Clean the Carb.

Sounds like you have something completely wrong with the carb. Take it apart and make sure you put it back together correctly or just buy a replacement.

---------- Post added at 10:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 PM ----------

if i end up buying a new carb should i buy one thats meant for a honda engine or for a clone (i have a clone). I can buy a honda gx 160 one wth 3 gaskets a fuel line and a fuel filter for about 14 dollars
