So I bought a new piranha 150 to mount to my go kart. The kart has a fixed angled engine plate welded to the frame. My question is, could I use the actual skid plate for the 150cc engine to mount directly to my engine plate. Would like be strong enough?? Or should I just mount the engine onto the engine plate using only the peg mount bolt holes? And what sprocket setup should I run

Well...looks like the Pirahna engine is going to have to mount with the cylinder to the front, which means that you will NOT want it angled downward (oil control). No idea if the skid plate is strong enough, my bet is it'll be ok but may need some bracing.

As far as which sprocket, nobody can tell you that - depends on your tire height, axle sprocket, engine rpm. Check out the calculator on the "all the way home" page here, you can plug in your variables and see.

Thank you. The plan was to stack washers in order to level out the engine on the engine plate but I’m a little nervous about the vibration. Trial and error I guess. I’m running 11 in wheels on the rear with a 5 in rim and a 17 tooth drive sprocket.

I remove the motor. Would it be easier to completely cut the motor plate out and just butterfly mount the skid plate to the frame. I check my skid plate. It’s pretty solid for 160 pound guy to stand and slightly jump on it. I know I’m going to have to mock up some kind of chain tensioner.

So I have the engine mounted but I may have messed up a little as you can see. How can I possibly go about getting rid of the slack in the chain without repositioning my motor. I tried removing links but nothing

Well you're gonna have to remove more links! I'm sorry but if removing links does nothing then you're not removing links. The only other option is moving the engine forward and or up, which is gonna be harder than removing links.

Yup, gonna have to remove more links. Once you get it close, you can raise engine slightly by adding washers between it and the mounting plate if need be.
