Well, I started painting Rockford, ironically, the same day he died, unbeknownst to me. RIP James Garner :(

Ok, that's enough moment of silence for James Garner. He will be honored more as Rockford nears completion.

The Mad Max car on the previous page belongs to this guy
http://youtu.be/cF6oQUEfn84

He lives local and we've been trying to get together for some time now. Finally the weather turned cool enough to take the all black inside/out car for a spin so I invited him out to see my movie madness collection.

Coolest thing I've ever seen drive up the road!!! I was grinning from ear to ear. And yes...the blower really does turn on and off.

How to make white wall tires the fun and easy way! Wait, this was not fun or easy. After way over thinking it and making a mask that wouldn't work, I learned that electrical tape is the key to taping off white walls. Thanks YouTube!

Apply a generous helping of plastic fusion paint the first coat because the E tape will shrink and pull loose as it dries.

looking great!

I think the nose piece will get lost when caught on film (too small for an action scene)
but it's still really nice for a close up perhaps.

Yeah, well, business drama and new staffing pretty much shot the original timeline all to ****. Over twenty years in the making, no need to get in a hurry now. I'm just happy to keep moving forward. And forward I move on more than just the karts: on filmmaking knowledge, networking, directing, casting and merchandising as well, which I haven't posted much of here.

The nose piece will indeed get lost in action shots but I picked up all my details from static shots of The Rockford Files as Jim walks to the car prior to action scenes. These are written into the script and planned in my direction. I actually want the similarities between kart and car to be very subtle.

Got some great response at Decatur swap meet! Sold some books, a BUNCH of Dublin soda, a few parts and had a BLAST showing the truck off!!

Nice! Be a bit of a 10lb-5lb bag scenario getting it in though. You'll see at the swap meet.

It currently has a 10hp electric start Tecumseh with a torqaverter and a fwd/rev trans axle. Moves better than I thought but not enough for the scenes I want. Biggest problem: not enough brakes!

So what I am hearing is that you want to rebuild the v-twin gx620 in my garage, fix the driven unit that you have, install the fixed comet 40 series, and install hydraulic disc brakes on it?

Yes! If only it were mine.

Anyone know how to take a fiberglass mold?

No time for that. I'll have to get creative like Stephen Speilberg in Duel. Through camera work they sold a 90 mph truck chase when in actuality they had trouble getting the derelict truck to do 25, without speeding up the film!
