You might want to have your phone checked out. All of the punctuation keys stick except the comma, it doesn't seem to work at all.

Well... I read this whole thread start to finish in 2 days. And it's......AWESOME!!!!!!! I CAN NOT wait for the first episode!!!
Can i have the smokey and the bandit kart? Jk lol but it's sweet!!!!!!
My whole family are huge fans of the original Smokey and the Bandit. I've seen it 4 times lol. I had a quiz on To Kill a Mocking Bird in english last year... The question was blah blah blah sheriff ____ blah blah blah. You had to fill in the name. I had NO idea. Sooo.... I wrote Buford T Justice. My mid twenties teacher got the joke and was dying... I still got low 90's on that quiz.

If you dont already know because ive said it a 100 times, I come from a Family thats HUGELY into cars. I've been brought up around cars my whole life. My dad buys cars, uses them, then 4-10 months later sells for (hopefully) a profit. Well... He also has two cars at once. Now... He's high 40's (years old) and started this whole flipping thing at 16, ad started with two cars in about 1990ish. I was born 1999. So do the math. The point is... I've been around a lot of cars, of ALL different makes, models, shapes, sizes, you name it. I've also been to more car shows than anyone could ever count! What was one of his dream cars from a young age? 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, 4 speed, ws6, 6.6 litre, and then basically stripped. Point is, basically all the power options, and NOTHING else. What popped up two years ago for pretty cheap. Yup... '79 Trans Am with everything said above. The seats were very rare because they were as base as possible... And noone got those base seats. Didn't really make sense why to me, hes had much better faster cars since then, but it all made sense after he bought one. Point is, he bought it... And it was awesome. Still love that car. Top 3 that he's had in my life time for sure. I would kill for that smokey kart! I even saved the pictures of it!! I added a small album of it to my profile. And yes, it was a VIN matching, real black and gold special edition.
Funny thing was that his other car when he had the Trans Am was a e30 M3... Another one of his all time dream cars. The station car? An e39 M5. That was our all time best line up i think.
However, the movie had a '77 Trans Am... To be fair.
Now...:backtotopic:
GO DENNIS!! AND POBOY!! AND GRANPANN!!
Who'd i miss? I know i missed someone.

Awww shucks:eek:

You're coming up like my kids but with more experience. I started flipping cars, trucks and tractors a few years ago so they know their way around a car show and a swap meet.

After the upcoming go-kart swap meet, I'm takign a 1 month hiatus to build and enter one of my rat rods into a car show. We'll see how that goes:auto:

Production Update:
I’ve been in correspondance with my producer and we’ve revamped a new schedule.

All go-karts and props finished by end of January
Casting in February
Actor/Driver/Stunt training, stunt rigging, camera and other quipment set-up in March
Filming begins April 11, 2015 and continues every weekend until school lets out for summer.
Filming resumes every day until wrap in mid-June.
Attend Bandit Run 2015 with Bandit (kart) and mini-truck displayed on flatbed:D

That’s the plan anyway. Hopefully wife’s busines won’t be a problem this year. We’re preparing to liquidate it in favor of Go-Kart Alley!

Man! Ratrods are sweet! Unfortunately 90% of the stuff we have is stock... And the other 10% is barely modified. Sooooo.... Yeah...
I've always wanted a ratrod though.

Good luck on go kart alley! Seems you have a good plan!

The ratrods are very cool! I tried to do one of my karts ratrod style. I'd love to have the opportunity to build the real thing someday.

Just as nice as the previous ones... well done :D

But the four little dots on the 'side panel' what are they?
necessary or could you cover them up to clean the sideview some more?

Wow!!!! Lookin GOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!
Nice job!!!!
If theres one thing i would change on the ENTIRE kart, it would be painting the gas cap black or gold. It doesn't match the rest of the kart at all. Not even kidding, i wouldn't touch anything besides that. Very very nice job!

Those four holes in the side plate weren’t even on my radar until we put the seat on yesterday then they really stuck out. The red gas cap actually does match the Pontiac delta on the front (and the gas valve, Tecumseh logo, engine kill switch) but you’re right, it’s not very as subtle. Painted plastic looks ghetto to me but I do have an old one I might try it out on just for you.

I actually painted a steering wheel beige to match the seat but couldn’t use it because of the ghetto factor. I may still do a beige wrap on a chrome steering wheel but right now it’s at least functional. The throttle still needs some attention and my clevis pins for the brake band (VERY important to the script) haven’t come in yet but it’s ready for showing at the swap meet anyway.

This gets into the realm of the illogical but I wanted to keep this kart as stock as possible, save for the wheels, paint and pieces of flair because Jim Rockfor’s car was portrayed as a bone stock Esprit model Firebird. That’s why I went through so much trouble to go with the Injun Engine. I ended up buying a “lot” of old flatheads off crackslist (3 Injuns, a B.S. and a Toilet…you’ll get that in a minute) and managed to get all of the parts I needed to make it work. Used the offset intake manifold from one, muffler from another, the crank and crankcase cover off another (the Injun had a 7/8” shaft – not comaptible with any clutch) and a host of other odds and ends.

Despite my dislike of Tecumseh engines, their interchangability of parts is a redeeming quality. What’s really cool is, just like they put Esprit hoods on Formula Firbirds for the show, I ended up with a 3.5 horse cover on a 4 horse engine!…could have been a 5 but the 4 had better ignition.

Kinda wishing I hadn’t painted the engine gold because of the ghetto factor. Black would have been more stock but then too much black might have taken away from the gold frame.

The 6” wheels don’t look as cartoony as I thought they might and they sure make it ride smooth!

All in all I’m pleased with how it turned out.

Looking back on my finished karts today, I see they've all turned out entirely too nice for the storyline. Then again, that's what we love about movie cars: they're beautiful, invincible and indestractable, coming away from the biggest jumps unscathed. In reality, the General Lee maintained by two old country boys thrashing it around dirt roads would have looked more like General Mayhem

That is awesome! Thanks Grant! Man! Putting me to shame, I'm supposed to be making a TV show and your making more/better videos about it than I am!
