ok i am still working on this. i will be either running my controlled stock flat head or a clone. will be turning either motor between 7000 and 8000 rpm and both making 10 to 15hp. the people at comet said it should handle the rpms and power, just might go through belts more often. anyway...

looking for good down low torque and speed. i will be using #35 chain with the 12 tooth in the front on the tav unit. the back sprocket is up to my imagination. i have every gear from 50 to 84 for the axle from my racing kart. any ideas?

18x10x8 tires and will probably weigh around 400 to 450 lbs.

would like 40 mph maybe 50mph but definately looking for wheely kind of torque too. any help here would be greatly apreciated! thanks dan

tall order for me but maybe something i say will lead you in the right direction. to get that kind of torque you need a small drive sprocket, large (70 or larger) axle sprocket. to get wheelie power change the garter spring for a heavier one (stall converter). as far as getting 40-50 out of it with this set up, your guess is as good as mine.

Ask Tyler. I remember he ran like... 60 or so KPH with a Comet 40 and a 72 tooth rear sprocket...

What's sad is I thought he meant 60MPH :(

So theoretically, my electric minimotorcycle would've smoked him with it's blazing 65.5kph :p

I always hate it when they put it in Kph and I think its MPH.

Yeah I pushed 60 KMH with a 72 rear gear and a 12 front. That wasnt with my black clone though. It was with my dads governerned down GX200 clone. Only runs around 3000 RPM with its governer setup.

I am playing around with Clone TAV2, and from my experince, use the same final gear ratio as if you were running a centrifugal clutch, so a 6:1 ratio to a 13-18" wheel sounds about right. Next, you will need to set the Driven Pulley spring in the 2nd or 3rd hole to keep the motor RPM higher, or else it will start to bog down (go to the high ratio while RPM is still low).

I have a realatively light Kart with a modified Clone making about 8-9HP and a 5:1 final drive on 13" tires. 0-5MPH torque is enough to spin the Mudder like tires pulling up grass. Almost enough to spin the tires on concrete. From 5-15MPH, the effect lessons, and after that, not really different from a clutch.

I think the Torque convertor will match my Twin Modified Clone kart (4:1)to about 8MPH, then the power of the Twins is just too much.

well after doing some calculations on one of my racing kart programs with a 12 84 i should be able to do 60 mph at about 7800 rpm. that should be plenty of umph down low too. now with a clone that might only turn about 7500 peak, i don t know. i know my race flathead will turn 8500 + with the carb that is on it. if i switched to a tilly carb and put a billet flywheel on it it would turn 9500+ that would be considered a super stock engine. when i finally get it together i ll let you guys know. thanks dan

oh yes this will be running agressive atv tires.
