Thanks, Wall gator, Blazkowiez, and everyone else. I finally got my parts in and installed yesterday. The go-kart is running great. It pulls stronger and smoother than it ever did before.

I am running a series 20 for sure with the spring away from the engine, and the correct belt now. It currently has the blue spring in the driven unit. I'm under the assumption that this blue spring is for the set-up where the driven unit spring faces the engine. The question is, since it is running fine, do I replace the blue spring? or do I leave it alone since it running good I ordered two replacement springs since I didn't know which one to install, if any:

in your first post you say you have a 10 tooth jackshaft sprocket and later on you say its a 12 tooth. just wondering which one it actually is because im building a kart that is very similar to this and was wondering if that gear ratio works well?

It's a 10 tooth. It does well. (especially before I removed the governor) You cant start from a dead stop on a hill, but I don't think any of the TC are designed for that.

Now that I took the governor out and made some mods I thought about gearing it a little lower to see what it does. It gets up to 35 mph quickly, but takes a long time to top out at 42.

so the 8:1 gearing i was thinking of would probably be pretty good with the same setup (20" tires, 6.5hp clone slightly modified, and torque converter)

Yeah I think that should work out great.

Just out of curiosity how are you getting the 8:1 ratio?

I've thought about gearing mine a little lower, but I can't find a 3/4" sprocket for #40 chain with less than 10 teeth. Changing the large sprocket can be expensive.

Cool. Keep me posted on where you buy your 80T sprocket, especially if you get one for #40 chain.
