Hey guys,i recently bought a raptor3 and it came with no tank. So i bought a bs5hp engine for 40 bucks thinking i could use the tank, but the bolt pattern is slightly different. I'm thinking about taping a new hole in the tank ,any feed back would be appreciated....

Make a mount to fit the two tanks? When I help people mount off-set fairings to their bikes. I go by it a few ways, the cheapest and easiest most minimum way is to use some flat PVC stock and cut it out. easy to drill, can be cut into shapes with basic hand tools.

The next step up, is to use aluminum stock. Harder to drill, I'd recommend using a drill press if you got one, and a good set of drill bits. To get it cut into shapes, is a little harder then PVC but can be pretty easy with the right tools.

But heed my warning, my ways of doing it might not exactly be the best ways. After all I zip tie race fairings instead of using mounting hardware. saves on weight...

I'm not familiar with "Raptor" engines so your problem might be "Raptor" specific.

But, I think it was in 1993 that there were improvements made to the gas tanks and carburetors. Gas tanks were now made with a "channel" around the filler neck to help with spillage during re-fueling. And carburetors were now attached to the gas tank with 4 screws instead of 3 (as previously attached). But carburetors with 4 screws would still attach to gas tanks with 3 screw set ups. You just had to plug up the 4th hole with JB WELD or something.

So I think your tank should work unless "Raptor" carburetors don't work with standard gas tanks.

I think you have to get a raptor tank. .... another way to make money, product specific parts.... .... You can't just drill and tap that thin metal tank.... its just too thin.....

If you have what I think you do, two of the holes will line up, the third on will be different. There should be a flat spot on the carb for the other hole. You just have to drill the hole in the carb. A lot of times the new gasket will have four holes in it. Just align carefully and mark the carb flange, very carefully center punch and drill. There is another carb as well that is completely different. A picture would help clear it up.
