WOW this is cool. I had a neighbor at the last place I lived that had one of those power weels things and I remember thinking how could someone set it up with an engine. I see what you did here and man that is awesome. did you have to cut a bunch off of the bottom of the body or was it like a two shell type of thing ( top & bottom )

Thanks guys!!

The springs are stiff for the little guy but they do work with my wieght. Now that the parade is over am going to play with the rear shock arangement and see about softer spings all around ....speaking of do any of you know where I could get some custom springs made?
I just had to cut a bit of the body out of the area under the seat and where the pedels go

Now THIS is a beautifull, clean, functional build, also seems very low-noise for a 2 stroke engine to me, but thats maybe just me ?!
Apparently it also has a nice weight/strengt-ratio to it.
All in all, Great job Bigair, i'm impressed !

I've done a lot of these power wheels to gas conversions myself, and i really like the idea using mountainbike shocks, also i noticed the slightly forward-angling front swingarms, i'll simply have to try these 2 things on my current project.
So far i've used moped shocks due to the cost, but they often tend to be a bit to hard, also i'm not sattisfied with the strength/weight ratio on my current front swing-arm design.

Cause i'm a grown man, for myself i use a way bigger powerplant and a manual clutch/transmission.
Mostly done conversions like yours though, for kids, got some great new ideas from looking at your pics, thanks.

Excellent build, nothing to point fingers at, Perfect !

Sideways: get going, your smaller coussins will simply love you for it !

I hold a sort of "kiddies race/play-day" at my parrents farm, several times during the summer.
Primarily for single parrents who don't have a lot of money to spend on summer-vacation and taking their kids to theme-parks, but at my place, admission is free, the guests can bring everything they need themselves, we even have a camp area and showers.
Everything is free, except fuel and oil for the karts and the other "motor-contraptions" on the farm.
They buy it from me at cost-prize though, so everyone can participate.

And i tell you, you don't get anything that at the same time is as fun, and rewarding, as a childs biiig smile, think most likely Bigair will agree with me...
At least i'm pretty sure i noticed the cameraman chuckling a bit on the movie, when the kid blocked the brakes an made the tyres squeal ;o)

Flash the farm sounds like alot of fun I would love to get a bunch of these together for some fun racing. I plan on making one for me but I want to use a honda mini trail engine 3 speed semi auto and find a body that will look right and have enough room for me something like this picture a lift and bigger tires

First off, Bigair, just get going making a bunch of powerwheels for grown-ups.
I tell you, it's sooooo frigging much fun hanging out with family and friends of both sexes even.
Riding powerwheels build for adults, it's just such a hoot, because it seems so ridiculous riding a kiddie toy, that everybody no matter the age or boy/girl issue, can relate to the fun and enjoyment in it !
And as far as i can tell, you have the right recipie for the perfect setup !
Just remember 2 things i did wrong/spent a lot of time on, trying to perfect the first time:
1. In on-road gokarts you sit with very bend knees, don't waste a lot of time trying to make the power wheel fit you better, like it was a real car, riding it with your knees side-by-side your elbows also is a part of the "ridiculous-fun-factor" ;o)
2. Make sure you still keep a low centre of gravity, even though lifting it, because at some point, someones "hillariousness" (hope you understand what i mean) will take over, and the person in the vehicle will drive it so foolishly that they risk flipping it over... And its not easy putting a working roll-bar on such a small vehicle, and still make it look good, i tried, didn't work.

A little bit of background on me, before my actual question:
Originally i was an automechanic, even worked like a fullytrained for a few years, after finishing the danish 4-year apprenticeship mechanic education, but gave it up. Then took a bunch of courses, and worked as a certified welder for some years allover the world, gave that up like just half a year ago, though.

Due to prior education on primarily 4-stroke cars and vehicles, and from my experience working with e.g generator-powered welding and in some cases diving equipment, on both on- and off-shore projects, i guess i'm kinda partial to 4-strokes at any time !
I think they're much more reliable and they have loads of torque, compared to physical size and RPM's of a similar-displacement and physical sized 2-strokes, also the cooling i think, is never as much an issue with 4-strokes, mostly i guess, because they run at significantly lower RPM's.

You seem to preffer 2-strokes, or have i misunderstood something, the Honda Trail are 2-strokes aren't they ?!
As for the power wheel in this topic, we allready know it runs a 2-stroke.
Also as i understand it, you work with 2-strokes proffesionally, or maybe, again, i've misunderstood something ?!

If im guessing right however, you're like a "2-stroke kinda-guy".
If so, i would very much like to hear your personal thoughts and experiences, with 2-strokes, maybe there could be a point in trying these out for size in my upcomming projects !

I know it's kinda off-topic for this thread, but would just really appreciate to get a little info, from someone who, if i'm guessing correct, really knows his way around these engines and their bennefits, before i begin starting up a project or 2 based on such.

Kind regards, Flash.

Flash thanks for the info and background.. and yes I understand the foolishness of some people when having too much fun.
well I do work with both 2 and 4 strokes. in the early years of building engines it was primarily 2 strokes as 99% of motocross bikes were 2 strokes then a crazy thing happened and they outlawed the high reving 2 smokes and started to develope and market the 4 stroke race bikes today 75% or better of the bikes are 4's I do like my two strokes but there is no comparison when it comes to low end power. the mini trail is a four stroke I have some of these engines form the early 70's that still run fine and have never seen more that a ring job and a few oil changes they are indestructable. The reason I used that engine for this build is because I already had it, and it has a built in clutch and transmission. Plus the size of it but I totaly agree with you and will be building the adult versions with 4 stroke engines. So 2 strokes make their power in the high RPM's and have poor low end grunt wile 4 strokes make good power at low to medium RPM's and start to drop off in the higher RPM's. I have built some honda 50 engines that will make around 7+ hp

This is easily the coolest build I've ever seen on here. I don't know why, it might have something to do with my intense love of Jeep, and dirtbikes... but this thing is just awesome, and Kudos are yours.

great job. i'm wondering if you used the training wheels for the dirt bike to make the trailer axle. does the jeep's seat get hot with that engine, or is there enough ventilation to keep it cool? something to think about, maybe: install a lawnmower engine under the hood, and use a lawn tractor tranny? the tike may be a bit young, but it could be an upgrade for later on.

Mike the seat doesn't get hot at all there is a heat shield on the engine and there is good ventilation , it was a concern I had as well in the begining of the build..2 hours in a parade start and stop action and the seat never got hot.

The trailer was built from scratch

i wanna see a latest vid of this thing with the 52.... i have a power wheels i got when i was 4 and im 14 now, i am building a pit bike with the 43cc GS moon engine and i have parts to build a scooter too, i have a 33cc chainsaw for that. next summer i may start building a cart, i just got a 8hp briggs and stratton snowblower engine that needs some work done, so i am a little full on projects but i still have that jeep sitting outside. fun to tow it around but i want to put a motor in it. i tried using that 33cc chainsaw i mentioned but the frame is so flexible by itself that once i sat in it the whole thing warped and i lost the chain. i need to make a steel chassis, then. pretty soon i will be able to weld and im buying a cheap flux core. so any plans? also what sprocket did you use and brake?

cool man I'll have some video up soon this thing is way too fast for kids I am going to put the biggest sprocket I can find on the axle and the smallest I can find on the trans that way it will pop some wheelys and spit out some dirt but top out at a light jog. My boy is good with his throtle control and I just let him go on his own.. but some of the other kids just put the pedel down and dads chasing after them SCARY!! :auto: as I bet top speed would be 35MPH or better with the current gearing.
