if its a float carb then the needle isnt closing properly allowing for the bowl to overflow

Here you can see the gas line i broken
(this is what's leaking)

The gas tank on top of the bike (not what's leaking)

And here's the carb btw what does "float carb"mean?

Hey tykenfitz, does that engine have an electric start, or an alternator of some kind? I found an engine very similar to that several weeks ago and it seems to have some kind of motor attached directly to the crankshaft. It's missing the pull start though and something else which I didn't know what it was. Looking at your engine though, I think I figured it out! I really wanted to get it cleaned up and running, it's missing a few parts.

If you have enough slack, you could probably just cut off the broken piece and re-attach it.

A float carb is a type of carb that has a small float inside of it. I'm not too sure what all they do but I believe it has something to do with fuel regulation. I need to learn more about them myself.

Found this here:

FLOAT SYSTEM - You're Floating In It

The float system acts as a fuel reservoir to meet engine demand. The float is hinged on a pin in the float boss. It rises and falls with the fuel level in the float bowl. The small metal tang integrated in the plastic float supports the float valve, aka float needle. As the fuel in the float bowl rises, the float valve is pushed into the valve seat, until it's high enough to shut off the fuel flow to the bowl. The level in the bowl drops lowering the float which pulls the float valve from its seat, and fills again.

does the starter have a selenoid beside it or is it one piece. the latter is very easy to use. just get the polarity right and its should work

If you get it reverse, it won't engage, but will spin. If you get it right, it should engage and try to start it.

It's really kind of a weird setup. The one I found didn't have a solenoid and the motor is actually part of the crankshaft. I'd never seen anything like it. I'm waiting for his answer too.

I think its just one piece.
when its on the bike its just a little ring attached to wire over a metal screw.
iput two 9volts together and touched both ends to the screw it made a wired noise and then the batteries died.
I didnt screw up my engine did I?

9 volts from a small battery won't get it to crank. You'll probably need a lead acid 12V.

yeah like a car battery. motorcycle battery will work too.
ground( - ) goes on the metal housing.
and + goes on the bolt

while its canking you might want to look and see that its spinning in the right direction
