Can someone please help me with a brake band and drum question? What is the correct way to determine what size band to use and is the drum size the same size?

I have never replaced a brake band for a drum but I'm waiting to wear one out completely so I can. That said, I'd buy them together as a complete set if possible or call (by phone, how quaint) BMI, GoPowerSports, MFG Supply or the like and ask the same question.

I know they are roughly the same size but when the band is activated, it cinches tight around the drum leaving a 1-2 inch gap on the open end. Better to have one that is too small than one that is too big...
