Where is the sense of adventure? Nobody is willing to take a good running machine and remove a major component and replace it with a component that probably won't work without endless hours of forkin around. The fact is it won't even fit, without machining custom parts, so it isn't installed with duct tape and zip ties. Oh don't forget the fuel line, throttle, air filter and choke. Does it even have a choke?
This whole project just sounds just too fun to pass up.
l figger l can have shop space tied up for weeks while l sort out endless problems!
wish me luck, this sounds like too much fun to miss.
stay tuned!

I have. Sorry but they are not great. It's not good for modified engines as it cannot flow enough cfm. It flows less than a factory predator carb. They are intended to to on lawnmowers. Ect, factory with governer to increase fuel economy and decrease emissions

Thats good to know. However that might work to my advantage. I intend to use it on the utility kart I built. (naughtagator)
What it is, is an old 12HP vertical shaft Briggs. I know what yer thinking...
But I never use more than about 10% throttle. I just haul tools and shyt around the mountain top campus here. This thing mostly just idles around, and occasionally gets a coupla hundred RPM off idle and thats all. The problem Is my old carb is worn out. It won't hold a constant idle speed.
One minute it idles at 2500 the next it won't idle at all. I'm constantly adjusting the idle screw. Yeah, I checked all the usual suspects for vacuum leaks. It isn't like a normal vacuum leak, the idle changes and then never returns to "normal". The replacement carb is $120 and my inner cheapskate likes this option. So ya think this thing would work in this application? My inner cheapskate is gonna have a fit if I have to shell out $120 + shipping. (my inner enviromentalist could not give a shyt about emissions)

Yeah, conceptually it will work. It's going to limit your 12hp Briggs to probably 7-8hp although it sounds like that doesn't matter. Obviously it won't be a bolt-on and will require a lot of adapting if you want the governor to work.

I think that Tillotson calling it mechanical fuel injection borders on fraud though. It's a carburetor with an adjustable jet, a concept as old as the carburetor itself.

If you're trying to be cheap, get a regular clone carb for $25 or something. Also look at the Tecumseh carbs as they might need less adapting to fit the Briggs.

I have to agree with that! I have been looking and studying this thing I come to the conclusion it doesn't even qualify as Throttle Body injection.
I"m interested in clean running (adjustable is nice) idle and up to 1000 RPM above idle. The only governor is in my right foot.
It appears the bore on this thing is 13MM or so, while the original carb is around 1 inch (memory issues). I don't care if the top end is reduced by 80% all I need is the bottom 20%. There is more than enough torque down there to do the job.
The adaptors are no problem, in fact that's desirable. This whole thing is about having things to do, things to make, wimmin to avoid errr ahhh keepin busy, ya know. Cheap has more to do with increasing the challenge, than spending a few bux. If it's outside of "normal" that just makes it better. I like it when after explaining this thing to people, they just walk away shaking their heads mumbling WTF?

Thanks for the input, Taken under advisement!

My inner cheapskate and inner lazy old slob are still arguing about this, now my inner engineer is joining the fray. The voices in my head are driving me (mo) crazy.
lt going to be a long night, so l think i'll get a handle of Pendelton, and let 'em hash it out. I'll let ya know how it turns out.

The oil lamps were burning late into the night, while this issue was debated.
all of my voices were present, so it got quite loud. After extensive research, and a coupla less than stellar reviews it was decided to just buy a carb. Apparentley the OEM Carb is no longer available so, the next best option is a mikiuni (22mm).
The voices of reason in my head argued that they work well, relatively easy tuning,
and the team here understands 'em.
the biggest factor against the " fuel injection" is that its not. After doing a couple of throttle body swaps, l think the performance would be dissapointing.
At 13mm bore is too small. The 12 hp is summare round 400 cc, and this thing is for
a 212cc engine. Just too restrictive.
However, for 40 bux it will be fun to play with. I have a test mule....

I'm into my fuel injection for about $700, I looked at the Tillitson, saw the video then decided it was too restrictive and still a little limited for tuning. I would say it's definitely got it's place, slightlty modified gx200?

I'm pleased with the Nibbi carb I got.
I'm taking another look at that. The Mikuini on the GPS website is $120, but when its in the shopping cart its $167.xx . WTF?

I don't have even that in this whole, pile o steamin crap.
I have junkyarded GM throttle bodies and adapted them to non GM V8 with good success.
So I'm more curious about this thing than anything else.
