As with everywhere in the more "northern" latitudes, winter is more condusive to repairs and upgrades than going out and breaking shyt. So, l have had steering/suspensions upgrades for frankenbuggy rattling around 'tween my ears fot a while. I convened a meeting of all voices in my head and we decided this is a job for Egor and the skunkworks division.
No surprize they were already "onnit" and produced this prototype:

Exactly what l thought, young grass insect thingy. It's actually quite simple. That however is the subject of episode 9 this is only episode 1. Stay tuned.
This project isn't going get done overnight, but on the other hand it has to get done by April 25. When slaves get on a roll, I don't like stopping them to take pics. That often gets overlooked so don't expect much. I'll see that enough pics get taken to make ya say WTF is this clown thinkin!
l saw this front end on a buggy, took a few pics, got a look at some plans, so now to see if l adapt it to the rolling scrap heap. Follow along and you'll laugh, you'll say "WTF?", poabably a lot. Bear in mind this is another scrap heap project. That means "make it work with what ya got". That for me is the fun of all this. It's too easy to just assemble parts. That and the fact l have no idea what l'm doing should make this entertaining.
Not much progress today.
spindle got finished and fitted with bearings. No, the outer one is not bigger.

Thank you! thats a nice compliment, as that is the look of the rest of the thing. If I keep everything looking the same then ya can't tell that this is actually revision #839B.

Zackly, dats why I'm only doing one side at a time. I do cut out parts for both sides. Thats why the reject/scrap/junk pile has such a nice stock
and variety of metal/parts.

And if for some odd reason it actually works even half decent, it would be a win, win. Worst case is I get to hang out in the shop, make something, indulge in some adult beverages and or oth, ahhh never mind that!

The old front end was suffering from bent king pins among other things. So yeah, if it fails , double it, if it fails again, double it again.

So, l need some input from all you engineers, engineer wannabes, experienced ols geezers and just general noitalls.
how much angle should a front steering turn the wheels? Assuming straight is 0 degrees, what is adequite? 30, 45 dergees? The has to be a point of diminishing returns?

There is about 32-degrees in one direction or 64 degrees, for those math challenged and common core math students. At speed i only need a few degrees, but low speed turning might suffer. Its already bad due to the locked rear axle.
you guys hash this out, argue amongst yerselves, i will be MIA for a day or two.
l'm gonna have carpal tunnel surgery tomorrow, so please have this resolved when l get back.
