I got a Chopper/ hog thing that has those atv tires...free. It just doesn't have an engine, which is fine, because those had crappy clones anyway. Im gunna put a 5 hp flatty on it and i can sell it for about 200$ Or it could be a good culprit for a sled engine...
Looks like this:

I Think i'm gunna take the 8 horse off my kart and put it on there. I just want something simplistic and reliable for once.

Woot woot

It used to have a jackshaft but the guy who had it threw the clutch and parts away. So i got a new clutch and chain...the things geared so high it will do about 50 mph but it doesn't have any low end power...

Crappy clone??? WHY? It runs, so it can't be crappy. According to your pics, you still have the engine.

If it has the balls to push you to 50Mph governed stock, with a high gear, that's really good. I DOUBT a 5HP flathead briggs would get you near as fast as your 6.5HP
"crappy" OHV clone.

If clones were crappy, I would have blown mine up a LONG time ago. Can you say continous overrev everyday, hahaha. I drive mine as much as a car, and oil change monthly from the miles I put on it, and it still amazes me how reliable it is.

BTW, nice bike, just lower the gearing some, remove the gov, and it will perform much better. Or you can just leave the high gearing and enjoy the high speeds.

It was sarcasm bucko, that's just the rep the clones have. Yeah, they are good engines.

You can calm down now. :cheers2:

BTW there's not much quality difference between Comet, Hilard extreme duty and whatever the other brand name is. Weld up a nice 1 1/8 dia long header and it will make it sound wicked!

I have a comet on my kart, and i got a Hilard for this. The comet is higher quality, and there's more aftermarket for them. Comet makes very good clutches, i have comet clutches on my sleds. And for a header i'm going to experiment with a expansion chamber design. Yes, you heard me. There are aftermarket exhaust for new race quads that use a small expansion in the pipe that's proven to increase HP. I even once put a chamber from my snowmobile onto my briggs 8hp on my kart and there was a very noticeable gain in acceleration and top end. I have removed the Gov.

FMF makes them. "Powerbomb" and "Megabomb"
By positioning this “Bomb” at a key point in the system, increased performance and flow is achieved through the expansion and contraction of exhaust sonics through the system. Result is a flow increase of nearly 10%! The outer chamber in the Powerbomb allows the air to expand, cool and ramp back up at a higher velocity.

To a point, yes, but I find the bushings last longer on the Hilliards, and they are easiest to take apart for maintainence. I roasted a Max Torque clutch within 12 days, shoes, bushing, hub, and all, but the Hilliard Extreme-Duty lasts months before needing a bushing, and I slip my clutch ALL the time during city driving. I've never changed anything but a bushing once. I have heard GOOD about anything comet makes, but have never had one yet.

*I edited the other post, because I realized he had a new clutch already.

I agree on the header, it will make it sound mean.

I didnt mean anything wrong about the clone, I just see many folks hate on the china engines, I didn't recognize the joke, my bad. :roflol:

Happy riding, and nice bike, crazycart!!!

Since you are running a stock clone, remove that restrictive plastic air filter box, so the filter is out in the open, and that should give you some better takeoff. You will notice more power for sure, it will sound much better, and the best part is the free HP upgrade.

Of course when you sell the bike, put it back on for stock appearance.

Neat, are are going to get a video of you driving it? I think a high flow cnc'd flange header sounds better though. I like the rumble when letting off the thottle.

Yeah mine sounds exactly like that, i was using a crappy phone camera so the sound quality is crap. I might get a video of driving it if i can get my actual camera to work.
