Yep, and then they get mad at the shops/mechanics when we show them a few thousand dollar repair write up.......
oh ya. most of the time the labor cost more than the parts just because the way the cars are designed now aday. this is why i work on my own vehicle and my newest vehicle is 19 years old. i can save all that money that would have spent on labor and spend it on tools, parts or mods.
But, One thing we can say about ford. WE MADE THE FIRST VEHICLE WITH THE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE!!!!
i don't know about that. i think there was other people before ford

Karl Benz 1886 first automobile In production

Henry fords model T released 1908

:iagree:

Ford created the first massed produced car, cheap, reliable, and on an assembly line. The assembly line is what a lot of people get mixed up on when they say "Ford made the first car"...no, he was the first to mass produce it.

These cars are owned by mechanics and are well looked after

Haha yea right! We all know mechanics treat their cars the worst. :D

A guy at work has an 08, XR8 ute, V8, supercharged, making just under 400kw. He drives it daily. I think it just depends on how its driven. Its pretty much just like anything.

But a bloke at work has been havering terrible issues with his xr6 turbo ute, the computer can't stay operational and this morning the left cylenders cut in and out

which are the left hand cylinders on an inline engine???

i used to work for ford...the euro ones were the best(with the exception of transit vans), australian stuff was ok and then usa stuff was just terrible. xr6-ts were always problematic but it think that has alot to do with who buys them and how they are driven. Also some of the australian cars were lemons, it was weird. You'd sell 100 falcons and one of them(the same one) would come back every week with some new problem, usualy electrical.

edit: actualy the japanese fords were the most reliable.

.

ha lol thats what happens when u dont look properly

it was 6 am when they were fiddling
i just assumed they were Vs and the niose was coming from the left of the engine

what happens when u only get half the story :roflol:
anyhow this car is new less than 2 thousand km

intresting that it depends where they come from u would think they would have a world wide standard

Umm, no, just...no.

"WE"?:roflol:

And are you sure 'bout that? First in mass-production to be sure. First vehicle with an I/C engine? I wouldn't put money on it!

Not even close. Just off the top of my head, the first plane flight was 1903, the first Model T was 1908. A plane is a vehicle, and it most certainly used an IC engine.

Yep. And really, Ford's T wasn't the first anything. R. E. Olds came out with his mass produced Curved Dash Oldsmobile in 1901. It sold for $650. A 1909 Model T cost you $850. The only thing Ford came up with was a moving assembly line.

I've driven a lot of stuff over many years. I laugh when I hear someone saying "Ford sucks", or "Dodge is best", or whatever. Amongst the big three American manufacturers, they all have their high points and low points. You really have to evaluate individual models for comparison. Also, manufacturers have good engines, and bad ones. The 4.3 Vortec V6 from GM is one he// of a good engine. You get a vehicle with that engine, odds are good it'll live long. On the other hand, there's a GM dog or two out there. Doesn't matter the platform, if you get a notoriously bad engine, the car will be an anchor, too. It works like that for all the manufacturers.

This man knows what he is talking about. I totally agree.

not realy they are pretty much completley different companies.

you have the mazda based fords, the australian fords, the north american fords and euro fords. Pretty much nothing in common other than the ford badge. Down here in nz we get all of them.

Lucky, we pretty much get none of the good new products from any company, the big three refuse to bring anything different like small diesels or the turbo inline Falcons to the US.

Im gonna be biased and say that while they may not be the best built of all fords, Aussie fords are the best looking at the moment. The GT-40 still trumps any ford of the past and present though lol.

is that a dodge 5.7 and 5.2 you are talking about? if you are talking about a LA 5.2 then ya those thing are great reliable engines but if you are talking about the 5.2 magnum engine that was used from 92-01 then there not as reliable as the LA 5.2 use to be because of poorly designed parts. now onto the 5.7. i am pretty sure those thing like dropping valves. you want to talk about reliable and almost indestructible engines you really just need to look at the straight 6's that almost every brand had.
