Seems they were not very smart or embraced new thinking or new ideas.
You'd think after breaking two or more flywheels, they would stop using six-spoke heavy iron flywheels, but instead, their greedy azzes spend as little as possible, and the poor workers suffer the consequences.
Governor belts? Rope drive? Gimme a break!
I don't care it it's in the old days, they obviously had better ways to design things if they weren't so cheap and greedy, and make their employees suffer for their bad decisions!
It's good that engines now are smaller and faster, and they don't have monster flywheels and huge single-cylinders that weighed TONS. A smaller engine that revs high with gear reduction is much better than a HUGE engine with no reduction and tons of torque.
I'm glad I never had to work at places like that!
Good post BTW! It's a real eye-opener!
