About a year ago I drove by a house and noticed a go kart with weeds growing around it. Stopped by, offered the guy $50, he accepted, and helped load it into my truck.
The Murry go kart had a 6.0 Tecumseh motor, bald tires, rusted white paint job. The pull string was out, and would not retract.
I oiled the cord, put new oil in the motor, checked spark plug and air filter, put new gas. Fired up on the first real pull.
Bought new tires, and have been running it ever since.
Recently the old Tecumseh motor started to smoke, and spit oil out of the carb. Instead of rebuilding it, I purchased the predator 212cc from harbor freight. $120, used a 20% off coupon I looked up on google, and after tax and shipping was $111. After doing a little research, I purchased the stage 1 performance kit which included intake, exhaust, emulsion tube, jets, valve springs and timing advancement ket. I installed everything except the valve springs since I don't plan on removing the governor. I also picked up a new clutch, and the autolite racing spark plug. Everything came out to $126.
While i was waiting for the parts to come in, i removed the old engine, seat, and other small parts, cleaned up the frame and painted it a nice gloss cherry red.
So I spent $237 on the motor, and after fed ex lost my package, and had a honorable neighbor call me saying they had received it, put it all together last night, put it in the go kart, and it exceeded my expectations....
I only rode it for a couple minutes before i ran into that tree. I realized that going on the first test drive is a great feeling, but when you rush and don't do things like fix the brakes, bolt the seat down, and put the seat belt back on, hitting that tree is not such a great feeling.....
Today after work i will fix the minor things, and hopefully see its full potential.
I'll upload some pictures when i get home, and possibly a video or 2. Thanks for having me here, and i hope to learn whatever ya'll have to teach.
