my first suggestion is to not use a chainsaw unless its above 50cc, and even then its iffy. Most saws have a tapered shaft and most stock clutches (with the exception of the older saws) are wimpy.

Anyways, it sounds like your carb. Clean it really good, Put it back together then turn the high and low speed needles all the way in then turn them out 1.5 turns each, that should get it started. Adjust the low needle while your idling, then adjust the high while the engine is WOT.

thx i doubt it is above 50cc but chainsaw bikes are all over the internet. when you google "chainsaw bike" 739,000 results come up, and i saw a video of a guy with a little weed eater engine on a bike and he said it did like 20 mph...
anyway i will try to fix that tomorrow.

Oh for some reason when you said that i was thinking minibike...yea chainsaw bikes can do pretty good, again the bigger the better. what kind of poulan do you have? the older ones were sometimes decent, but these newer ones are just sad. I actually got about half way through making a chainsaw bike then ended up moving on to more powerful things, i'm planning on finishing it sometime. I got a free 50cc mcculloch from the 70's, when they were pretty good. If i were you i would put an ad on craigslist looking for a cheap or free chainsaw, thats what i did and i got some offers of fairly cheap 90cc stihl's and other big saws.

The diaphragm is a part in the carb that often goes bad with saws that sit for a while, i suggest buying a rebuilt kit for the carb, there only like 8 bucks.

the thing hes holding in the first pic is the diaphragm

update:
OK, i have been looking around for the right carb kit ,i found the saw is a Poulan 2250 2.2c.l. Super Clean, but their are like 8 types of 2250 kits. theirs 2250, 2250 type 1, 2250 type 2,and up to type 7. I don't know which type of kit to buy.

Thanks

$100 per foot of bar length.
:mad2: :censored: :censored: :censored: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :censored: :censored: :censored:

Already welded the handle to the bike, but it is supposed to have an 18" bar on it, the guy who gave me it kept that.

Chevy cow, take the carb off and bring it to a lawnmower shop, thats what i did they just found me the kit.

check your fuel line, and your clutch sometimes the clutch is hung up and hinders operation of the engine. on some of the diaphrams, if meant to be wet or dry there will be a spot that is contradictory the rest.
