I looked up a magneto for a gx120 and it mounted up completely different from the blue motor. Notice how mine has two bolt holes on one side while the Honda has one on each side. I'll try the credit card gap . I always thought as long as the magneto and flywheel magnet werent touching then closer was better. So much trouble for such a cheap motor, I guess it has become a matter of principle :horse:

Bummer. I can't really tell from your picture though - a bit out of focus.

That said, bolt it back in with the credit card as a spacer (this was the correct thickness when I had to replace a coil on my Tecumseh mower), then make sure nothing is connected to that tab as that tab is grounded to turn off the ignition, then try and see if you get a spark. That coil has semiconductors in it to automatically fire the coil - that tab doesn't do anything.

You could just have a faulting oil switch or oil level latching module (that small box on the side near the oil level sensor.)

i would get a briggs flat head. cheap and easy to work on.

they are.

most complex thing with a 5hp flatty is the governor linkage probably.

EDIT: also lots of mods, briggs built some as "raptor" 5hp flatty race engines, now they make the 6.5HP OHV B&S animal.

they dont know the difference sometimes they dont even look in the box

Maybe I could put a bag of sand in the return box that weighs the same as the motor like in that Indiana Jones movie....mwahahaha :devil2:

I told myself I wouldnt make the 2hr round trip for that motor but thats about what its coming to unless anybody out there knows where I can get a magneto for it.
