Fitting Hub over Axle

Guys,

I've got a 5/8" steel rod, 5/8" collars, two 5/8" spindles and two 5/8" hubs. The collars slide w/o effort over the rod and the spindles. The hubs slide over the spindle w/o effort. But the hubs *don't* slide over the 5/8" steel rod w/o effort. I would have to tap them on with a hammer and might not ever get them off again. Is a 5/8" axle actually not the same size as a 5/8" steel rod? How do I make these hubs fit this axle?

Get a 5/8" drill bit and ream them out a bit, or a grinding stone. Drill bit is more precise though.

Check for burrs in the hubs...The zinc coating inside will also make things a tighter fit. Most of the time just the torque will loosten these stamped steel hubs anyway.
