Howdy y’all north Alabama here. Seems like a lot of good info here. I do tree work and I’m a small engine mechanic. Will share a few photos of my interests and projects. I’m 32 years old this site

This is going to be a crawler, has Honda fx35 4 stroke with gear reduction. Just started tonight so haven’t worked all the specs out.

Was a razor 24v quad that I converted to 36v Lipo and now gas.

Gear reduction

Btw I’m a harbor freight fanboy, and this is in my opinion the best deal on a packaged set there is.


And also the the titanium 125 can’t be beat as a entry level welder.

Went ahead and ordered a shorter gearbox also for some speed runs lol.

Another rough in, I think I like this setup better. Scratch that, that won’t work cause the rear suspension would slack the chain when sat on lmao.

Gear ratio looks pretty good with the gearbox I ordered.. I know this ain’t no special build or nothing but figured I’d share it on here.

Well, on a positive note, you can always put some R/C Radio gear on it and sell it to the radio control crowd right? Trying to be positive here...

I used to fly R/C planes and Helis, and run boats and cars as well. I think there is a market for just about anything.

If Cars and Cameras can make an r/c kart why cant you make an r/c quad eh?

I mean you did sacrifice a Stihl and a Husqvarna after all. And you are from Alabama no less. Down south we would lynch you for doing such as that to decent saws like a Stihl and what not...and even a cheap crap Husqy can be fixed with a chain swap and a carb replacement with a real one! C'mon man! do ya need some repair learnin? Do I need to drive up there and share some learning with ya? LOL, C'mon bruh, where ya from like Decatur or Muscle Shoals?

I think you will find yourself outgrowing that HF welder real fast.

And when you do consider buying, buy a better branded machine.

I have a Hobart 210 MVP. As far as a MiG machine goes I cant complain.

Also I just recently purchased an Everlast Powerplasma 52i PlasmaCutter. I have been happy so far. If their welders are as good...well...

yeah since that calculator doesn't throw any warnings whatsoever if the ratio is off...

so as an R/C yes.. as soon as you put a human body on top (however small that might be) it will likely suffer badly from that ratio

I was just introducing myself and showing my interests lol there will be no saw parts on it, I would never sacrifice a stihl or husqvarna for a toy haha. The gx35 is from a parts earth auger I bought. I buy up all the non running stuff around here lol.

Dang u was close I’m in huntsville.. where u from? And always gotta watch them Yankees they want death to the southern man!

Hopefully this welder does what I need for awhile and allows me to get good with a bead. I’m green as they come at the moment.

And a plasma cutter is def on the list of things to get!

Here is the same build and where I got the idea from, seems to go pretty good to me and my oldest kid is about her size, one difference tho... 4 stroke 35cc vs 49cc 2 stroke... and why would I need a warning on the calculator to tell me if the ratios are off? Or maybe I’m not calculating this right? The gearbox is 3.55 to 1 reduction 11t 47t engine max rpm is 7000 tires are 12.5.

Ok my bad y’all I was looking at the wrong gear box, the one I ordered is 5 to 1 reduction it will be geared to 12mph top speed, so that should be a little better eh?

Yep I know where that is. Bought some metal today gonna extend the frame and also make room for the engine and gearbox. Will update with pics, the only thing holding me up is the parts coming in mail. I have faith in the gx35 with a gearbox. Ain’t gonna be a torque monster but should do good decent on flat ground.

Frame finds are tough. Every neck that has one thinks it's some kind of racing frame when you do. They're out there. Pilled up in the weeds rusting away under the old pecan tree out behind memaws trailer house...

You ask a question about it and they tell you that they're gonna fix it up one day but you know it won't happen. Or if someone does decide to offer up to sell it they act like it the kart that Dale Earnhardt learned to race on and it's worth a fortune even though it'll cost you a small fortune just to get it up and running.

So...does it look like I feel your pain brother?

I think I drove a grand total of 300 miles to overpay for an old Ken-Bar once. I did get some extras with it. And it would have really been worth it had the pics and description been less deceiving. But I was time and money into it...so I wasn't walking away empty handed.

But keep an eye on FB market place. If you see something act fast. But don't expect the other guy to do you right. I've had stuff sold out from under me while I was on the way to the cash machine to get money after we already agreed on the deal. I've had guys make deals then sell out before I could get home from work. That really upsets me. I tried to sell a chopper frame once. I was gonna hold it for a guy. Made the deal. Was gonna wait so his check would come in. He would text occasionally and I said man I am still waiting on you. He never did come through.

But I have met some good guys and made good deals. Cash talks but never show how much you have if you are at their place and they want to peddle other stuff. One guy gave me some stuff just to get it out of his way.

Just be respectful and careful and use common sense around some of the people you buy from that you don't know. I always let someone know where and when I'm going and I always keep my Glock tucked in tight.

Keep looking. I think lately with folks being stuck home karting has been on the rise as well.

Got the gearbox, chain, chain breaker, metal for brackets now all I got to do is build it may or may not get around to it today... it’s hotter than a meth pipe on payday out here.

I was up on a ladder putting in a light fixture in my barn yesterday... 124° up in the trusses. No breeze inside, and the underside of that tin roof felt like a space heater. I was up there for 10 minutes, and there was 2 wet spots 18 feet below me on the floor from the sweat dripping off my elbows. It was 93° outside, and that felt really nice after I climbed back down.

step outside today. I'm trying to grill and build a kayak rack at same time and I cant hardly concentrate due to pouring sweat.

You'd be surprised how useful a bandanna is when wrapped around your forehead. It really helps cut down on the sweat pouring down your face.

I'm getting old...I prefer an air conditioner to most other methods any more. Just me I guess. I try to save any attack work till winter time if possible. I know that tin roof was cooking...you could probably cook food on the top side!
